Advice on problem please!

When my pc boots up, the bios start-up says "no keboard detected press F1" so upon doing this, it starts fine, but once in windows (Vista Ultimate 64) mouse usually works ok, but as soon as I press a keyboard button (any) the mouse pointer freezes and I can't access at all, looks as thoguh it isn't frozen up as start-up programs still run.
I clear cmos and re-start and it works till the next start up.
It is a USB keboard and I do have drivers which says supports Vista?

Can't see an option for that. Did try "plug and play O/S" off or on but no difference. I'm wondering if it's a bios issue. I ahve upgraded to latest, I think it's since then probs have been. Can I install older bios?
