Just had a very entertaining arguement for about 45 minutes with a friend about weather or not he liked using controllers. He's a determined CSS player, so i felt like winding him up :p

He said most FPS are played competativley on PC becuase its better.
Que me saying the only people who care enough about playing competativley are people who are too attatched to their PC's :p

Eventually I drummed into him that a mouse and keyboard requires less skill than a controller.

I might well have been wrong, but its not something I overly care about, lol

Im just interested to see what you guys think is best and why? or which you prefer?

For FPS keyboard and mouse.. its pretty simple really.. its much more accurate and faster also..

For FPS games i do prefer mouse/keyboard i find it easier to aim as well as being quicker.

But since selling my gaming pc a while back i have no choice in getting used to a game pad for these types of games.

Hmm as i thought.

Now where it gets interesting. Which do you think requires more skill? Controller or KB+Mouse? Surely if a keyboard and mouse is quicker, a controler requires more skill as you have to think ahead and anticipate your opponents moves?

It would take more skill to get to the level people get to with keyboard and mouse using a controller... but tbh i dont think its possible.. Its like you have more freedom with the KB + Mouse...

if you know what i mean?

Yeh in a sense.

For example, if your busy looking at the ground for example in CSS, and someone shoots you, you can look up and shoot quicker than in R6V for instance, although this can be alterred by pitch sensitvity. But I feel you have to be more aware and prepared when playing with a controller.

I feel sometimes its nice to get away from the conventional keyboard and mouse while gaming.

I dunno. They're two different skills. I enjoy both, although I wouldn't want to compete against someone on kb/m while I was using a controller.

I find the controller much more realistic for FPS on consoles. With a keyboard and mouse its so easy to line up the crosshair over the head of an enemy while jumping around like a loon. The controller might not be as accurate but I find it much more realistic when trying to aim.

Theres also the lovely feeling when you press that right trigger button and the controller rumbles, which adds to the atmosphere.

IMO its requires way more skill on a controller

played RFOM for agges when i first got a go on the ps3...... went on CSS that night and i swear my reactions and stuff had improved tne fold , was doing miles better than normal :o

It doesn't matter. Console FPS games are made to use with a controller, these are rubbish with mouse and keyboards, it's vice-versa for PC FPS games.
