Having a weird problem, whilst using my computer randomly my razer deathadder/mouse will become unresponsive/turn off. It will then say usb device not recognised... This is very weird as ive never had this problem before i reinstalled vista, aftering buying a motherboard and RAM. Any ideas... happened 2 times so far... once whilst gaming, other time i was surfing the web.

Could this be down to the fact ive overclocked my cpu and my psu cant handle it (450w)
ive tried deleting usb root hubs/controllers in device manager...tried reinstalling drivers updated to latest firmware. Im thinking of resetting myoverclock to see if the problem persists
my specs are as follows
450w hiper
intel core 2 duo e6300 @ 3.5ghz
msi geforce 8800gts
2x2 gig gskill
2 dvd drives
1 hard drive at 7200rpm

I had the same problem and I now know that the powersupply was shot.
I had it since install. Luckily I bought and ANTEC and it has a 3 year warranty. Currently being RMA'd
That was my problem I'm not saying it's yours however.
If you have a spare PSU i'd give it a try. I did and the USB worked immediately afterwards. I had problems with my external hard drive and usb keys as well though.
