hi all,
please can someone shed some light on this?

did a build for my bro.
the ps/2 keyboard worked initially, then after a reboot, the lights were on, but none of the keys worked!?!?

1. so tried a different keyboard-still no joy!

2. couldnt get into the bios to set it to default settings via F2, so pulled battery on motherboard to reset it-still no joy!

3. third time lucky kinda!
rolled back the driver for it even though there was no other driver to roll back to, as i was using the default driver for a 101/102 keyboard built into windows.
this worked! strange but true!
then after a reboot, same thing happens again! lights but no keys!

now my bro has resorted to leaving the comp on all the time just to keep the keyboard working.
the only answer i can think of is to get a usb keyboard, but he will obviously lose a usb port.

help!

A signature may contain one or more images but they must fit within a box with maximum dimensions of 400 x 75 pixels (width x height) and with a maximum (combined) file size of 20k. Images containing mostly very large words or animated .gifs will not be permitted. You may also add 1 consecutive lines of normal or smaller text directly above or underneath the image with no spaces inbetween image and text. If no images are used then up to 4 consecutive lines of normal or smaller text is permitted. Do not pad out your text lines with blanks lines. A line of text is defined as having a maximum length of 400 pixels.

FAQ

Your sig is out of the rules, friendly headsup to change it. :)

Have you tried running an adware scan on the PC, and have you made sure its plugged into the right socket, and not the mouse one?

Sorry to be a pain, you need to remove the 7200rpm as that takes you to 5 lines. :)

Thanks for doing it, saves a don coming in and hitting you with the nasty yellow sig! :p

yeah did full virus and spyware scan, came back clean even in deep-inspection mode!
mouse is defo in the right port.
is my sig ok btw?

Take the 7200rpm of your sig and its fine, its 5 lines at the moment. :)

Do you have USB keyboard enabled in the bios, one of my older systems disabled the PS2 port for keyboard when this happened and used one USB controller?

Spot on thank you. :)

Other major rules that get heavily enforced on here are no competitors to OcUK and no swearing. Follow them and you will get hooked to this place and be here for years!

Different thing, this will reset the BIOS to its default values.

You move a jumper on the motherboard to do it, clearing the CMOS should be in your motherboard manual.
