The first question would be what port are you using to connect the keyboard to the computer (PS/2, USB 2, USB 3)?

A lot of problems can be caused by using USB 3 ports for peripherals or by using a controller which is not part of the motherboard such as a PCIe USB card.

im using the PS/2 port.

wondering could it be the motherboard?
