Keyboard Recommendation

Hi there - once again I'm here to seek guidance :)

I'm after a new keyboard for a mix of "real" typing and general gaming. I've seen that the X4 is on special offer today and it seems to get some good reviews - however, could anyone please let me know how they find it for general typing rather than purely gaming. Otherwise - could anyone recommend an alternative?

My current keyboard is (I think) 12 years old and has given good service (and has really nice springy keys for typing) - however, it is finally giving up the ghost and it's time to move on...

As ever - all feedback and comments/suggestions welcome.

Forgot to mention - it would be good if the keyboard had feet at the back to tilt it :)

Cheers

No.

the only reason I got rid of mine, was that i use the four arrow keys for movement, and also some of the surrounding keys, with the X6 this was almost impossible to use any of the numpad keys without taking your hand away from the movement keys, due to the design of the removable numpad(the physical distance, i couldnt stretch my fingers enough).

this guy likes his - http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18231049&highlight=startername_MikeHiow

and there are some reviews in that thread.

Using a Microsoft Wired Keybroad 500 > lol £6, just over a year old no letter fading and the keys are just like new, it gets a good hiding gaming ,etc, + has the tilting legs but dare say most keybroads have them now.

Get the X4.

I have not got one mind, but it WILL be my next purchase when I break my current keyboard by spilling beer / cider / wine / sambuca in it. :D

MS generally make very good peripherals.

Well - had my new keyboard for 24 hours and very pleased indeed with it so far :)

I had read a couple of reviews where people complained that the keys were closer together than on a "normal" keyboard - but to me that doesn't seem to be the case - more a problem of getting used to a new keyboard having used the old one for over a decade!

Typing for work is great - nice travel on the keys and less noisy than my old spring loaded model. The macro recording is actually quite useful for Excel as well as gaming.

My only gripe would be that the high gloss plastic of the keyboard looks fantastic....for about an hour, after which it doesn't half show up the dust! But that's only a minor thing - overall I think it's an excellent purchase - so thanks to all those who pointed me in the right direction :)

Cheers

If you wanted something for the best typing experience you should have gone for a mechanical switch keyboard using either Cherry MX Blue switches or ALPs white switches.

What was your 12 year old keyboard that had springs?
