After a good gaming keyboard. First time pc gamer built one at Xmas. But just have a cheap crap keyboard and mouse set up to get me going.

What’s people’s go to? What’s all the switch colours meaning and what am a best getting ??

I find keyboards extremely personal usage wise, I'd really recommend going to a local hardware shop where you can at least play with some of the display models.

Some might have switch types on display for mechanics, other more generic places such as Curry's will have full boards on display. They might not be hooked up to anything, but you can get a feel for what might work for you. I'm personally a fan of mechanical brown switches, and I need a full sized board and preferably a wrist-wrest due to the things I use my board for and way that I type.

Start with Keychron K2 HE ISO, check that out first.

Best way to answer the no budget in mind.

In the grand scheme of things, £130 isn’t near the top of what they could cost. It’s probably a point where rules of diminishing returns start to kick in hard.

Oh aye, not even close but a good idea of starting down the rabbit hole for higher end stuff.

There's some perfectly good £30-60 "gaming" keyboards with mechanical switches out there, not having a firm budget for this sort of thing (or most tech) is a bit of a nightmare recommendation wise.

Yeah so it needs to be mechanical and is 60% best for gaming or 75,80,100?

Seen different layouts aswel. Sadly up here in the highlands of Scotland Currys is the best bet really to even see one and touch it. I’ve been on YouTube but every video more or less recommends different brands and models

Is there any brands to deffo stay away from ?

For gaming, do you need the numpad?

The reason 75% or below is popular is because by removing the keys to the right of the Enter key, you free up all that space for the mouse and your arms are more natural and closer together.

Where I live, I can't really try in person too so it's just online reviews, reading people's experiences and then hoping for the best.

Yeah don’t really need the numpad. I mean I’d just keep my cheap keyboard and plug that in if I really needed to use a numpad.
Yeah it is annoying wish we had an over clockers store here or even better a micro centre to try stuff and see all in flesh.

Then there’s the headache off different key colours and thennn the custom route …. My brain hurts

I have a 60% keyboard and found it a bit too small. While it is not bad i found i was having to use the fn key for to many functions.

I now have a 75% one and find it just the right size. I have had some full size boards in the past and never used the number pad ever.

You can also get 65% keyboards.

This one seems to be pretty good.

My basket at OcUK:

Total: £49.99 (includes delivery: £0.00)

Think I’m gonna go either Logitech g915x on sale at £120. Or Razer Blackwidow v4 at £120 aswel. Saving £60 on logi and £10 on razer.

What would people go for from them 2?

I’d get Keychron K2 HE personally for full height HE mechanical or Nuphy 75 Air 3 ISO for low profile mechanical.

But both you have to wait, Keychron normally takes 2 weeks if it’s in stock and Nuphy is ok pre-order having just been released.

It's based on my view of the two brands, I prefer Razer. However, I don't own one, so I would suggest reading some reviews first. Razer is pretty popular amongst gamers. Note Overclockers sells a couple too.
