Hi,

Difficult these days to choose anything, even a simple thing like a keyboard has so many options to choose from and so many different opinons what makes a good gaming/everyday use keyboard. I want to purchase a keyboard for gaming(mostly FPS,RTS and RPG's) and everyday use but I am not sure which one to get, anyone have any recommendations?

I have the following in my sights (Doesn't have to be a gaming keyboard):

Roccat Valo V2 Gaming Keyboard (Expensive £78.98)
Logitech G15 Gaming Keyboard
Steelseries Merc Stealth
Razer Arctosa
Microsoft SideWinder X4

I rather spend between the £30 - £60 but I can spend up to £70 - £80
Cheers :)

i have the g15 and im just about to change it for a logitech g510 (only reason is i have a 50% code to use on there site).

i like logitech but thats my personal choice and have found them to be solid and last for years.

keyboards and a mouse i think are personnal choice's made by the person involved.....bit like a case really.

personally i would go the logitech route for there amazing customer service and build quality.

I have the Microsoft reclusa, it is a good keyboard has everything I need on it, although personally logitech just wows me with their customer support.

Hey there otemu,

I can tell you my experience when using the steelseries Merc Stealth keyboard. I really do love the keyboard, feels incredible and has so many mods as well as the gamepad on the left side of the keyboard (if you like that kind of thing). The gamepad is also slightly angled for more comfort.

However, for everyday use I wouldnt recommend as the keys are not made for typing, there made for gaming and built to take punishment over the years. But as a gaming keyboard i really can recommend it.

+1 for this board, I have one great board, only gripe is where they put the programmable buttons

If you just want a good basic gaming keyboard the saitek eclipse 2 worth looking at. I dont know about the eclipse 3 and the cyborg range but they have many good reviews for them.

I had the previous series of the merc stealth and for gaming the pad is superb and more comfortable than a standard keyboard bt the rest of the keyboard layout is pants and not typing friendly and it died in 6 months :(

I've been through a number of keyboards including a logitech g11 and saitek eclipse but I can safely say the best keyboard I've ever owned has been my logitech ultraX premium.

for £18 it's such a nice board, feels so much more solid than my g11 did.
really nice low profile keys (totally subjective, some hate them but I love them) and basic media buttons - have been using it for fps games mostly and it's been perfect.

I guess from some of the options you've listed you might be after a keyboard with some macro keys though.
