Anyone got this combo?

Looking to downsize my lian li q08 to an sg05 lite, the figures say it'll fit by 2mm (card is 260mm and case is 262 apparently?)

Also, post your sg05 goodness, I want some inspiration!

My system will be:

Asus z97i
4770k (sits at about 4.2) (Corsair h50)
16gb hyper x beast 2400
500gb ssd
sff 450w gold silverstone psu

You can cut out the front since it will be hidden by plastic.

I bought the gigabyte itx version though to fit easily.
2500k
Sg05
Gigabyte 970 itx
1tb 3.5 hdd
256gb ssd
Slim bluray
Corsair h80i cooler.

Its a bit of a squeeze but fits.

Single fan on front. Had to remove the hdd cage parts off the optical mount and I have it on its side

Was a toss up between sg05 or parvum itx, and ocuk had 1 new stock of the sg05 so I grabbed that and saved myself some money!

I can't wait to cram it all in and have a smaller rig.

Cooling wise I have the h50, so might upgrade that in the near future. If anything I'll grab the new Antec 600 aio, look like a decent cooler especially for the cost. Or try and wedge a 240 in there.

The plastic facia gives you an extra 15mm length or so once you cut through the case, so you can squeeze a Titan-sized card in there.

Like so:

She's a few years old now, but that's a Titan, H60-cooled i5 2500, 450W Old PSU and a 500GB SSD with 250GB laptop drive slung underneath the PSU.

I hope that's some inspiration for you - I love the SG05, so it's a bit of a shame I'm retiring the system and moving half the parts to a new build.

Looks good! My 970 should be mm perfect i hope, ha.

I'm still betting i could get a 240mm rad in there and put the pay at the front. Loads of space! If i did this is drill some more holes.. I love the lian listyle and their use of holes. I'll try and find a puc but i did a 240 hole mesh roof mid previously and it turned out well.

I'll look into sleeving my pay as well because its a right mess, but that's a project in itself.

Maybe try and find a colour scheme too!

Case arrived. :D It's so tiny.

I thought the paint finish would be smooth, but there's quite a fair few "blobs", almost like an orange peel effect. So might sort that out with a repaint, or use it with some effect.

I'll take a billion pictures tonight, do a quick swap over and start planning what I can do.

So far I'm thinking:

Repaint + inside - Would like to design something visually stunning, minimal that just makes me thing "wow" when I see it. Matte black and maybe some sort of speckled effect? With some clean detailing (white/grey), maybe.

Layout - psu at the front, 240mm rad in the roof.

Case Cuts - I'd love to extend the hole pattern design further, throughout the case.

PSU - my 450w silverstone sff is fine power wise. But it looks horrid. So some sleeving and a paint job. I'd also like to maybe swap the fan.

Question - I know there are loads of things for full size drive bays, but can you get anything for slim bays? Eventually I'll probably just make a new front or try and grab a smooth metal front as I'm not keen on the side location of the buttons / usb.

A few tips from me having worked with this case:

1. Don't paint the inside of the case.
Because the entire lid is a folded shell, it slots in very tightly to the edges of the main body and the front under the facia. As a result adding a layer of primer and paint actually makes it too thick to properly slide in. You can see in my pictures where I ended up scraping and chipping the paint just getting the lid on and off.

Plus, very little of the internals end up being visible once the kit is added. If you REALLY want to ensure you don't see bare steel, here are the bits you can paint to give the effect of painted interior:

- inside floor
- inside back
- outside back
- GPU bracket cover

2. Use 2.5" drives only, especially SSDs, because you can glue/velcro/stick/place them pretty much anywhere you have a bit of space in the case. 3.5" drives are too thick.

3. You won't fit a 240mm rad in if you're keeping your PSU internal.
SFF PSU is 64mm tall and 100mm long, so mounted in the front will fill up all the vertical space in the case. That's not factoring in the cables at one end the power plug at the other.

Even if you can fit the PSU in the front, 64mm + 240mm for fans + 25mm for ports + 15mm for the end tank is a good chunk longer than the space you have available inside.

Go measure up though just to check because I'd love to see it done, but I don't think it'll happen.

Ye of little faith!

Great tips though, I'll just paint the main visible parts and save some effort.

I only have one ssd drive, my 1tb storage is in an external and I hardly ever use it now, so that's not an issue.

I'll template out some rad templates, surely I can wedge the psu somewhere to make room! Have been googling for ages and not seen anyone put a 240 in, so it'll be fun at least.

Ye of little faith!

Oh me of endless measuring of SFF PSUs and radiators for my In Win 901 build :D I can see pretty much every possible position in my head and see if this would work, but I'm not coming up with anything.

Measure up, draw templates and see which orientations you can come up with. I WANT YOU TO PROVE ME WRONG :D:D

Edit: for reference, Alphacool ST30 240 is 276mm long and 29.5mm thick, Magicool G2 Slim 240 is 272mm long and 27mm thick. GTX Titan is 267mm long. Cutting a hole in the front of the case made the Titan fit in mine and still covered by the facia with a wee bit to spare, but I don't think it was a full 10mm. You *might* just fit the rad up top if you chop up the inner front of the case.

However, the space under the rad to the floor is now limited to about 100mm with about 70mm from the inner front to the motherboard. The PSU could now squeeze in, but you still have cables and plug to factor in.

You've got me just as intrigued now, sorry if my thoughts are hijacking yours!

I think I'll need all the help I can get!

Rad / AIO im looking at is the ANTEC 1200,

Radiator Dimensions:
271mm x 120mmx 25mm
Fan Size:
120mm x 120mm x 25mm

case is:
276 x 222 x 176

psu is:
125 x 100 x 63.5

mobo is 170x170 ?

My scribbled drawings work out I have the space. With as low as 1mm gap. Totally fine, no one panic.

yeah, mobo is 170x170.

Can you do me a favour? I've not been able to strip down my SG05 to measure the modular plugs on it - I presume the gold-rated PSU in your spec is the SF450-G modular? If you have it already then can you measure the plugs for me please?

Also, you'll more than likely have the V2 model so won't need to change the fan

But don't forget to take the power cable and internal cables into consideration when doing your measurements. I've had to extend my new PSU position in my In Win a whole 3cm just to factor in a right-angle power plug internal extension, which in turn didn't leave the space I wanted at the cable end for my original fancy plan.

I'm half-tempted to break open my SG05 now and start measuring myself :D

Yeah I realised i spent a bit more previously and got the v2 modular :) Happy surprise!

So I think I can make it fit with a bit of dremeling. Trimming the top of the back panel (where the psy bolts on) and the front panel opposite. It'd be tight, but nothing touches (psu sitting a few mm above my hyper x beast ram... May swap that out for some low profile! ha)

ill make a better, sturdy rad template and measure up for you over the weekend. Lots of pics ill upload too.

Saying that, its damn tidy at the moment with my h50. And temps are idling at 35 and 40 running, erm, ahem, the sims 3. (for m'lady.. so I had to be quick to get it back and running)

Asteria is still going strong, and I'm still rather proud of getting a H60, Titan and 2 drives in my SG05 so it's a bit of a shame I'm stripping her down.

But, a word of warning: If you pull this off I'm copying you.

I've made a few incorrect decisions and purchases for my In Win build so I may well end up with an unused tiny pump (Alphacool DC-LT) by the time I'm done. 240mm rad custom loop will be going in the SG05 :D

With the roof was also i have to lose the front panel io, I'd make a new front panel then with a stealthy button somewhere. A touch button would be cool.

I think a custom route may be easier,, more control over rad size,, hm.. I've no idea where I'd put a pump though! Haha

I didn't realise the black was already painted inside.. Hooray! It needs some light though, thinking purple themed lighting.
