I bought a large amount of chicken breasts from Westin Gourmet.

I didn't realise that they would come in 2.5kg packs though.

So I have one of these packs defrosting, and hope to be able to make smaller packs of 2 breasts a piece, but I know that defrosting and refreezing meat isn't recommended.

So most of it is going to get cooked over this long weekend.

Curry one night for sure, but I have also decided to make home-made KFC Double Downs (I've been itching to try once since I heard about them, but the UK sucks).

I've found various 'deconstructed' recipes for KFC seasoning, and am fully aware that without a pressure fryer, it won't be the same, but also looking for member feedback on what seasoning works best if any of you have tried it?

Nope, it's 2.5kgs of breasts all vacuumed packed a single huge bag, basically a huge chunk of chicken-ice.

That really is a nightmare. I have considered buying that from WG but now it's put me off as I have no need for 2.5kg of chicken to eat at one time after defrosting. Why can't they come in seperate 2 packs or 4 packs even.

I know their sister company musclefood offer the option of having them packed in 2 breast bags iirc, or you could just do what I do when they arrive split them into freezer bags before you freeze them.

Read the OP, krooton says it came in a 2.5kg frozen block. Says it's like an ice block and can't seperate them.

Hmm I must have misunderstood this part

He must have got them fresh and then thrown the pack in the freezer without thinking.

Apologies for my misunderstanding

When I buy the 2.5kg bags of chicken breasts from WG I open the vaccum packs then individually wrap each breast in tin foil then place them all in a large sealable sandwich bag. Then you dont get freezer burn and can still use them individually.
