Kia...

The warranty I suspect, It's probably on it's 5th engine and 6th gearbox by now.

Just because Alfa's are crap doesn't mean everything has to be. A lot of these Korean cars use old Japanese drivetrains, as such they are not unreliable junk. Why would a company put such a good warranty on something if it was going to break all the time?

So that counts for nothing?
No, I can still comment on the general level of refinement of the interior, the ride comfort, and the noise levels for example. Especially as the above are some of the main reasons cheap cars such as Kias aren't as good as there more expensive counterparts, as they are for the most part fairly reliable.

God, peoples attitudes towards other posters stink on this forum sometimes:confused:

These CRD engines will go on and on, same with the 2.9's in the Sedona's. I used to work at a Kia/Subaru dealership and to be fair the Kia's build quality has increased tenfold over the last 5 years or so. I am not saying they are desirable, but they are no longer terrible. Just acceptable now:)

Sounds fair to me, not everyone racking up mega miles wants to do it in a decent (read expensive) car.

*No doubt loads of people will now post about wanting comfort when doing loads of miles

You really don't know what you're talking about, but then if you did you wouldn't have to resort to petty insults.

Kias are actually Hyundais, they really are bad, they don't even know what synthetic gearbox oil is. The electronics are at the level FIAT were with the Tipo. The optional satnav is a kit you can buy in Halfords, and is fitted at PDI (not joking). The only reason they come with such a big warranty is you pay for it, it's a hugely cheap car underneath.

As for solid drive trains? HA! The sorento is blowing diffs left right and centre because people aren't rotating the tyres. The problem is so bad they have discreetly recalled the ones with the large wheels to fit the smaller size, any still on the larger size will not get a diff under warranty. I sold a set of these wheels which had been taken off one last year.

Now get a clue, or get out.

not knowing much about them i definetly wouldnt ever expect one of them to go for so long

good value for money if you can put up with feeling like your in a box of horribleness

The car started out as a taxi - an airport shuttle run car, but then it moved on to even higher mileage work - it now runs some kind of shuttle service for a cosmetic surgery company, most days it's driven day and night over shifts.

It's now a standing joke that it's indestructible and they're going to see if it'll make 400 big ones.

I've no idea whether it's had anything major replaced so of course there could be some major cheating going on.

Hyundai machinery can't be that bad - they warranty their cars for 7 years now don't they? Certainly I'm sure Kia do.

There are 2 ways you can warrant a car for 7 years:
1. Make a damn good car.
2. Make a damn cheap car, but sell it for as much as a damn good car.

Actually the op is asking how Kia have managed to produce a car that can still be moving of it own free will after 300,000 miles.

Quite easy if its been an Airport motor, nice easy steady speeds on the motorway, that cant be that harsh on the car.

I reckon most cars if not thrashed and serviced regularly with go on for many miles, engines surely must be good for 250-300k?

A few month back I saw a Merc E430 with nearly 500K, it was chauffeurs motor.
