Most charities are bent as a three pound note. Most politicians are bent as a three pound note.

Add the two and you've got a bunch of dodgy, lying, two faced, thieving conmen who are more than likely using the misfortune of others as a tax dodge.

I'm more than happy to be proven wrong of course.

The country is awash with "Fake Charities"

(IE ones that receive significant government funding)

There role is to act as shills. A mechanism whereby the government uses taxpayers money to lobby itself and provide apparent support for its policy decisions!

Yeah they proper mugged off the government there - what's more is that a cabinet office civil servant told ministers they shouldn't release this cash as he doubted KC would live up to their end of the bargain, but ministers Oliver Lettwin and Matthew Hancock issued a ministerial directive to release the cash.

On a serious note, I'm genuinely worried about what this will mean for some of the children at the place I work, who are supported by and rely on Kids Co here in Bristol.

If they're closing everything, some of these kids won't have anywhere to go to school next month as the places run by Kids Co were the only ones who would take them. :(

Get a £3m grant for a "transformation and downsizing plan" and they spend part of it on wages. As with many of these organisations looking after yourself is the main priority. Charity begins a home and that's where they'll be tomorrow so they can only blame themselves.

I thought some schools had to take in whoever they were told to, which is why the "bad" ones get passed around from school to school every term or two.

(please, correct me if I'm wrong, which I expect I am, now you've said that :))

The Charity Commission is useless.

https://www.gov.uk/government/organisations/charity-commission

We register and regulate charities in England and Wales, to ensure that the public can support charities with confidence.

Righto.

They do nothing about dodgy charities it seems and it's sad because it is the communities that suffer.

Another one is wages, the Dogs Trust for example the top brass is being paid around £250,000 a year. How can they justify using peoples donations for that.

Such a mess.

They should be sacked (and humiliated).

Surely if there were suspicions that they wouldn't use the money as it was intended for, then they should have delayed until they could prove otherwise.

Not if the mainstream schools have excluded them and there's nowhere else to take them. Kids co were for the most part running the alternative provision down here, for kids who didn't fit into the mainstream environment.

This is why I just don't donate to anything anymore.

TLDR human beings again.

It's like reading into Mother Teresa the other day, she's seen as an absolute paragon of virtue by people but reality was she was a bit of an ******* really and didn't actually help anyone that much lmao. Just looked like she did and then group think kicks in and everyone agrees how fantastic she was as a person.

as if anyone trusted the fat idiot in the ridiculous outfits with millions...

I can believe they started out as merely incompetent but once they started getting serious funding then I doubt they just 'accidentally' misrepresented the work they were doing

The LA have a statutory obligation to find them a place. Of course that doesn't mean it'll be entirely suitable for them but somewhere will take them.

I really feel sorry for the kids in this situation. Kids Co. were a badly run organisation, but they were filling a void left by the coalitions budget cuts.

They have been running form 19 years so were they filling a void before the coalition too?
