i just watched kill bill vol. 1 for the second or third time today and i must say its actually really crap!

the first time i thought it was awesome, but now its just boring and tries to hard to be "cool".

the language that is used i am not really a fan of as it didnt fit the movie, even though this is one of tarantinos traits.

i personally think that tarantino is very very overrated, i enjoyed Pulp Fiction and# Reservoir Dogs but the rest of his films are boring and IMO crap

what are you opinions on the film and on him?

Deep

Kill Bill 1 and 2 were disappointing, but Resovoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction and Jackie Brown are 3 of my all time favourites. Jackie Brown in particular just doesn't get the recognition it deserves, too many were expecting Pulp Fiction take 2 (which Jackie Brown isn't even trying to be).

The first three movies are great. Death Proof was good imo.

He's a good writer I think. From Dusk Till Dawn and True Romance are really good movies too.

I've really enjoyed pretty much all his films. But yeah, they are mostly total look-at-how-cool-I-am selfmasturbation on Tarantinos part. Especially Kill Bill. Most of the interviews I've seen with him seem to suggest he has an ego bigger than Uranus too. Doesn't stop me from enjoying his films though. And they are quite entertaining IMO.

I watched it last night for about the 4th time & after half an hour i thought to myself what a piece of crap. The film is ridiculous in every way but has a few good scenes in it & that's about all.
True Romance & Jackie Brown are Awesome films but Tarantino is the most over rated person in Hollywood, imho.

I like a lot of his films. Not seen Kill Bill or the latest one however.

I love Dusk til Dawn. Totally off the wall modern gangster film with a twist bigger than the millenium bridge :D

As long as you don't look for a masterpiece of film production, but look for what they are (and pulp fiction pretty much defines his style in the opening sequence) then they're great.

everything else he's done has been *****.

You might want to edit that out. :)

I've yet to see Death Proof but I've enjoyed all of Tarantino's other films to varying degrees but you do have to accept them on their own level, like a lot of films when you look too deeply you will end up disappointed however just take them on their merits and they can be rather entertaining. I'm not massively impressed with the principle of "Tarantino presents XXXX" when he has had nothing to do with the film other than getting it a publishing deal over here but then again if it exposes more Asian cinema to the Western World then perhaps the end justifies the means.

I remember him saying in interviews that Kill Bill 1+2 was a homage to the martial arts films genre, specifically the dubbed/cheesy ones from Japan that came to the States in the 70's. Hence the excessive blood splattering, titles every 5 minutes and zooming close ups on the face etc...

I don't think QT should be judged on Kill Bill for that reason, it's not really a true reflection on his talent as he's working to the confines of the genre. Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction, Jackie Brown and True Romance are all masterpieces. They broke the mould in a time when film was crying out for something else apart from the buddy/action/romance drivel being touted. He combined cool actors, with memorable and still well quoted dialogue with structured and twisting story lines. I'm a bit surprised that people are anti-QT all in all, I think he's given our generation some of it's defining films.

Huh!!!
I thought Dusk till Dawn was the Vampire one

yeah it is, thats the twist :p

Kill bill 1 and 2 were ok, nothing more or less really, pretty average.

But resovior dogs, pulp fiction, jackie brown, and true romance (he didnt direct TR, but he wrote it, and it was a great film) are all very good imo.

Kill bill was OK, not as bad as some people make out and definately worth a watch. Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction are both excellent, probably in my top 20 films of all time, Jackie Brown is very good as well but a bit long for my liking.

Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction are both classics and Jackie Brown isn't that bad either. Even if you don't like Jackie Brown you can't help but like Bridget Fonda, she's ******* faptastic :o

Didn't think much of the first Kill Bill film and haven't bothered watching the second.
