kill bill and tarantino in general

Well I watched Kill Bill vol 1 last night as it was on tv. Havent seen it in years, but I still find it to be a great movie, anyone know when theyre airing vol 2?

Huh!!!
I thought Dusk till Dawn was the Vampire one

It is :)

When I went to see it in the Cinema, it was on a whim - ooh look a Tarantino, shall we give it a try?

And so we knew absolutely nothing about it when all hell broke lose we were hooked :D

i just watched kill bill vol. 1 for the second or third time today and i must say its actually really crap!

the first time i thought it was awesome, but now its just boring and tries to hard to be "cool".

the language that is used i am not really a fan of as it didnt fit the movie, even though this is one of tarantinos traits.

i personally think that tarantino is very very overrated, i enjoyed Pulp Fiction and# Reservoir Dogs but the rest of his films are boring and IMO crap

what are you opinions on the film and on him?

Deep

Weird because i watched it again last night and thought it was way better than the first time.

Dusk til dawn is brilliant. It's two films rolled into one. It's like full metal jacket.

Never been a fan of tarrantino. Always thought he was overhyped.

However his films are always highly original and entertaining.

At the time I thought Kill Bill was what cinema should be all about, it was what cinema needed. At the same time I felt like the film didn't live up to expectations and it's potential, whilst also possibly overshooting or missing the mark slightly regarding it's monumental vision. Perhaps the plot was too simple, but stylisticly it tried to cram too much in there. That gunshot at the beginning made me crap myself though. Time for bed.

i think Tarantino is a master tbh.

I cant honestly say im disapointed with any of his films. Maybe at first i didnt "get them" but once youve watched them a few times they become even better.

I cannot say that he's crap, but I also cannot say he's a master. His films are _interesting_, particularly his use of dialogue to develop characters and also his action scenes (I am mainly talking about RD and PF) are rather involving. However, they fail to involve me beyond that level of 'that's pretty cool', so they have little re-watch value.

I think tarantino's use of fractured story telling in pulp fiction is tbh excellent.
It's a story you only fully understand when the credits roll and i love films like that, pure classic from a world class writer and director.

Can you tell i really like QT flicks hmmm?

Theres also a very subtle level of detail in all of his films that basically connect everything he has done. He has many trademarks in all of his films and thats one of the reasons I love him.

Kill Bill is awful I think. A few other of Tarantinos movies have been good though. (Sin City, Pulp Fiction)

I dont know much about him to give an opinion on the chap himself.

He only did one scene in Sin City...

yes but he stole that from a great Kubrick film(The Killing) and many other of his film feature whole scenes lifted from other films which he explains away as homage to the original.

Kill Bill one was a good, entertaining film that shone because it of its style. Its odd approach to telling the story gave good entertaining viewing. Apparently it was an attempt to be a modern version of classic Asian cinema. Kill Bill two however, was supposed to be a 'western' film. Whatever the reason, part two was woeful compared to the former.

Oh thank god its not just me :p I have had too many arguments with people when I start ripping into Kill Bill 1&2.

Like most people I though R'Dogs and Pulp Fiction were great, I enjoyed From Dusk Till Dawn a lot as well.

But Kill Bill seemed ridiculous from start to finish, even knowing what he was attempting to achieve.

I think the thing with more recent Tarantino films is that they're very good at what they do, but they make no attempt at all to be to everyone's tastes. Most people could go and see Pulp Fiction and enjoy it, but a lot of people were never going to enjoy Kill Bill or Death Proof- but went anyway because of Pulp Fiction, then complained. I didn't enjoy Kill Bill at all, but I sort of saw that coming, I did go and see Death Proof in the right spirit and thoroughly enjoyed it, but at the same time I totally understand why people hate it.
