Just wondering if any of you chaps imported the Japanese version of this movie? I just found out that the movie was released over there in full colour and uncut too. I'm not Tarantino's biggest fan and hated the way he watered down the content by filming parts in black & white to appease the (US) censors.

Got it at relelase and also have a fanedited version called The Whole Bloody Affair, which is both films edited into one with a couple of deleted scenes readded. It's how it was initially meant to be seen :eek:

Japanese version is interesting, I wouldn't say it's better than the international release - it's certainly different with the extended cartoon and the Crazy 88 fight in colour. It's almost comical in colour.
 
Isn't there meant to be an official release of "The Whole Bloody Affair" eventually? I remember hearing about this when the DVDs were first released and so held off buying them until that was released.

Not that I'm aware of.

It's possible on Bluray but not really on DVD unless it's split across 2 disks. The fanedit is really heavily compressed to fit on one dual layer dvd and doesn't look great.

Bluray would be good for a DVD or slightly higher quality version.

I still want a DVD or Bluray release of Godfather: The Epic though *which will never happen. :(*

I did see the Japanese release before the International. I prefer overall the International cut as it's slightly shorter and I prefer the Crazy 88 in black and white artistically.

But, the Whole Bloody Affair is excellent.

QT's been on about releasing "The Whole Bloody Affair" for ages but never seems to get round to it. I had high hopes it would be on blu-ray now but I doubt we will see it anytime soon.

Having said that, he's been quoted saying after filming Inglourious ******** he will finish the final Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair so fingers crossed.

Thought is was pretty cool how they went to B&W in the US version, when she pulls the guys eye out. Just seemed to fit or something.
