Half asleep and headed to bed I spotted this in a window sill also half asleep. To save myself getting into bother I thought I'd put a jug over it and deal with the problem in the morning when I'm a little more alert. :p

Isn't it a little early in the year for this kind of annoyance? It isn't exactly a small specimen either.

But you still managed to take a shot of it, post it to Imgur, link it and create a thread about it here.

Let the poor thing out the window and stop attention-whoring.

Imgur won't try and sting me thankfully. But fine let me go and drop it outside. Can't imagine it'll try and fly away but hopefully it'll relinquish its grip from the jug.

Sorry Del, blame Lysander. ;)

I tried to kill a hummingbird hawk moth with fire once.... i merely angered the moth and it flew into my eye and gave me a right good flap of it's wings and the fight of my life.

So no, one would suggest not trying to kill it with fire. Acid perhaps?

We get a few during the winter - they come in hidden in a log and the fire soon warms them up and they wake up - Plastic fly swot works wonders as they are a bit dopey - no competition really.

Brake cleaner.
