Extreme overclocking puts huge stress on CPU's and I'd say they'll want to see it more than they're bothered about the IHS being lapped. Even if they just offered a discount on something else, it would be something.

intel have conditioning machines which can stress the processors harder than we can ever hope to achieve.


OP - well done on bringing the chip back to life, reminds me of my opty148 which lost 2 transistors after his IHS removal and subsequent rebirth :)
