Trailers:

Story:
Two years after the Helghast assault on Vekta, the ISA are taking the fight to Helghan. Their goal: to capture the Helghast leader, Emperor Visari, and bring the Helghast war machine to a halt.

You assume the role of Sev, a battle-hardened veteran and a member of the special forces unit known as the Legion.

For Sev and his squad, the invasion of Helghan is just beginning. Tasked with securing Pyrrhus, the Capital City, they quickly discover that the Helghast are a formidable enemy on their home planet. Not only have they adjusted to the planet's hostile conditions, they have also harnessed a source of power they can now use against the ISA.

Sev and his squad aren't just fighting the enemy forces - their fiercest opponent is the planet itself.

Welcome to Helghan, soldier!

Gameplay Videos: Killzone 2: Storm the Beach - Killzone 2: Convoy

FEATURES

  • Witness the devastating effects of Helghan's climate as it forces you and your enemies to adapt to new tactics.

  • Face off against fearsome enemies who have learned to wield the hostility of Helghan itself against their opponents.

  • Studio grade special effects will provide unprecedented visual fidelity. With full screen anti-aliasing, motion blur, internal lens reflections and depth-based color grading, players will experience a picture that is sharp, smooth and full of detail.

Previews:

Gameplay:
With Killzone 2, Guerrilla Games aims to provide the player with an immersive and cinematic gameplay experience that is grounded in reality with what they call "Hollywood Realism". The game is almost entirely presented from a first person point of view, through Sev's eyes. Killzone 2 features a cover system named "lean and peek" which allows the player to take cover behind an object, and then pop out to fire at enemies. The "lean and peek" mechanic stays in first person view at all times. Killzone 2 will also support PS3 Trophies. It has also been announced that Sev is able to pilot vehicles, in an interview with the Dutch site www.gamekings.tv for instance, one of the developers has confirmed the player will be able to take control of a tank. Many Killzone classic weapons and vehicles such as the M82-G and the StA-52 LAR will be returning.

The six-axis will also be utilized in performing certain actions such as turning a wheel, arming an explosive charge and sniping(the more you move your controller, the more unsteady your aim will be).

Multiplayer Footage/ Killzone 2 Weapons:

Multiplayer:
AI-Bots
Killzone 2 has been confirmed to be supporting AI bots in multiplayer, both single player and online. These bots are drones in the beta version's multiplayer mode.

Killzone 2's multiplayer component has been developed by Guerilla Games in parallel with the game's single-player campaign. The multiplayer gameplay is class-based, meaning the player can choose a class of character which is specialized for a specific role to better suit the player's needs in battle. There will be 16 abilities in total in which the player can mix and match 2 of them according to their playing style, and can switch abilities upon death.

32 players can connect online, and group into squads of up to four players. Two squads can group together as a faction of eight players. Killzone 2 also offers a clan system, which allows clans of up to 64 players to compete for "Valor Points", an in-game currency that clans can use to bet on tournaments.

In the level Corinth River, Sev is partnered with Garza, a fellow member in Sev's special forces squad. Garza is AI controlled, which has led to speculation towards the possibility of co-operative gameplay, where Garza's AI could be replaced by a human player.

Vehicles have been confirmed to be part of the multiplayer experience and are to be patched after the game releases

The thread title isn't to emphasize the fact that its a sony only game, I just couldn't come up with anything else to say. I thought of putting "Sony's biggest shooter of the year" but it was too long.

:)

Added Killzone 1 cut scenes and killzone psp footage to the first post. I suggest watching a few of the cut scenes from the first game to get an idea of what Killzone is about.

The first killzone wasn't great but its far from being a game you should avoid playing. Killzone Liberation on the other hand is an excellent game. A must own for PSP owners.

Considering RFOM was a launch game, it was far from just being average. It wasn't as mind blowing like Halo 1 was on the original xbox, but it was no slouch either.

Killzone 2 MP interview. Server browser sounds good for a console game.

Being an ex-PC gamer i detested all this forced matchmaking rubbish. A traditional server browser (showing pings! i can't remember seeing a console game that showed pings!) is exactly what i want in an online game.

This is gonna be awesome.

True. I always hated joining online console games. So much better joining a server instead of a random game. Warhawk and Metal Gear Online are great examples of MP browsers for consoles.

Seeing as it's a Dutch developed game (the dutch have games developers!?) i would be surprised if the US got servers and the EU didn't. Time will tell however.

Not really sure to be honest. How are the beta servers being ran? btw, KILLZONE 2 comes out first in the EU before the US by 1 day. Ave at it ya yankies. :D

Damn, nice work!

No idea on the demo, keep hearing various dates thrown around but nothing definite :(

Thanks. :)

I think I can wait it out till the end of feb to play Killzone 2. Would still play the demo if it came out, just not that fussed about playing it early.
