I have an oldish motherboard Asus P5W DH.. I am still very happy with it but, in turn I have older ram GSkill Pc-2800... and a brand new Intel cpu Q9400.

I had to set it as cpu freqency - 333

Ram @ DDR2-500mhz

FSB - 1333mhz

so am i running as i should be? i know im underclocking my ram instead of ddr2-800 its @ 500mhz.. maybe i can try some benchmarks? and whats the default vcore for Q9400? at the mo its at 1.2 in my bios.

I tryed some games like Bioshock and it was so fast maxed out with my 5770 @ 1680x1024 it made me dizzy lol. I want to do some overclocking but was unsure if im robbing myself with the ram set at 500mhz?

If i set ram above 800mhz it freezes in windows. Heres my ram....

GSKILL - F26400 PHU2
2GBNR DDR2 1GB (I have four of these in)
PC 6400
CL5 5-5-15
1.9 - 2.0V

Currently my ram is @ 5-4-4-15 in my bios.

So is everything? good?

Thanks, im well out of touch with everything, having just got back into my pc. :)

EDIT: i got this score in Prime...

695

That's "effective" clock rate with four bits per clock cycle and actual bus clock is ~333MHz.
IIRC for that synchronized memory bus speed (same data rate as processor bus) is DDR2-666MHz in dual channel config. And actual memory bus being that same 333MHz (1:1 memory bus divider) because of two bits being transferred per clock cycle.
Obviously if memory bus runs slower than CPU bus it can't provide data as fast as CPU could take it in but but CPU slowing effect isn't automatic.

If i set ram above 800mhz it freezes in windows.
PC 6400
Of course because that RAM is DDR2-800MHz memory
