Yeah, I know you've bought the new Kindle, but what I'm saying is that people who are saying the official Amazon ones are good, are they talking about the previous cases or the new ones? Because I've seen awful reviews of the new one, but my kindle keyboard one is great.

Only annoyances is at the top where the case bows out and causes a shadow. Easily fixed with a blob of blue-tac.

It's great for reading at work when I'm having mylunch.

I probably dump it for a TimBuk2 sleeve next year.

Loving that, but would need to be something with a cover over the screen ideally.

The 'foot' (with the black plastic) flips around to cover the front. It's secured with a magnetic flap - you can just see the tabs underneath the (right of the) 'foot'.

It's darker than the picture suggests, it's described as purple.

Do these actually need cases? Do they damage easily? Some of the cases are half the price of a new kindle

I just got one and was looking at buying a case but can't justify paying a thrid of the purchase price on a case. It seems pretty hard-wearing so my personal opinion is that a case is going to annoy me more than anything.

Although saying that I've never had cases for iPods/phones/any gadgets, I'm all for a bit of wear and tear
