Kinect, move or wii for exercise?

What's better Your Shape or EA Sports Active 2 Abooie?

Whilst Your Shape is the better Kinect tech I found EASA2 the better exercise/fitness program.

I think having the 3 and 12 week schedules really helped keep me motivated and I felt the routines were more varied with you never knowing what exercises it was going to throw at you. YS is very "samey"; it's good exercise, really good, but it's always the same grey backdrops and if you click on a routine it'll be the same as last time. I'll stick with it as I do enjoy the routines when I do them but I need something else to get me really motivated.

To put things in perspective I've burnt 15000 cals in EAS2 and 4000 in YS over the same period of time. I've just bought Biggest Loser as I feel I need a new challenge so I'll report back as to how I feel about this soon.

To the OP, Kinect Adventures can be a really good fitness program if you set your sights on getting the full 1k, the Reflex Ridge games are tiring and good.

If you want to become more active then a computer game is not the answer. No matter how much you sugar coat a device which requires moving your hand a little more, or having to stand up to play instead of sitting down.

You can get an excellent workout using kinect, so you dont really know what you are talking about im afraid.

The gym, the great outdoors they work a treat for me.

Don't get this whole using a gaming machine to exercise its a fad and won't work. You want to get fit, put some blood and sweat into it and do it.

Kinect it is, thanks to all that replied without delving into what they think my personal life is :)

I have The fight and Ea Active 2, both for the Ps3. The Fight is the better fitness game for me as it is actually trying to achieve something within the game rather than following a set program.

I use the kinect with the Your shape software on alternating days with the gym. I find it keeps me motivated and really works up a sweat especially with the cardio routines.

Gym = expensive
Outdoors = crap during the winter (ie. most of the year)

Started out with Your Shape last night, both the missus and I enjoyed it.

I found Your Shape on Kinect the best "fitness" game I've played, certainly much better than anything Wii Fit ever offered.

I agree with this, although the majority of play I have is in the endurance sparring. I spend 30mins in the morning smashing some guys' faces in, which works up a sweat and burns approx 300 cals (if the in game calorie counter is to be believed).
Feels good and my arms have muscles developed that I've literally never seen on me before. I'm not beefy or anything, but boxing clearly works muscles that are outside the usual day to day ones, so my arms are toned in a brand new way!
Pity about my vast belly though :(

In short, I think Move is a viable fitness tool, but in the long run, Kinect has the potential to be the best one out of the lot. Problem is, will it ever get past the fitness shovelware that's already all over the place (and that's true of all three platforms).

I've never felt so completely knackered as I did playing Kinect sports for a couple of hours with my two sons (15 & 16) we were all dripping with sweat and ached for days afterwards. Anyone who says you can't get proper exercise from kinect isn't doing it right!

Also with kinect it's fun and doesn't feel like a chore, I also have a Wii and Move and kinect absolutely kills them! :)

Sorry to dig this up but is the general consensus still the Kinect + EASA2? My Mrs is due to have our first baby in Feb and wants to be able to do exercise in front of the TV whilst keeping an eye on the babe (aka Jane Fonda work-out videos).

Not played with the PS Move yet but have had plenty of experience with Kinect & the Wii.

Depending on your budget, it could go either way, but for the best exercise go Kinect. Wii & Kinect, though both movement based, are a very different kettle of fish.

It's what I'd recommend. Whilst Yourshape is a better show case for kinect I found EASA2 and a 12 week program by the far the best at keeping me motivated.
