King Arthur?

Felt like a poor mans total war - once you've played TW you can't enjoy this. I promptly uninstalled it. Wait for shogun 2.

am tempted too may take the bitter edge off N:TW. and restore my rep after buying sims3 earlier in the week.

I tried the demo, liked it so bought a game. 30min into full game I couldn't stand it. Total waste of £25 i paid for it then :(

If you have one of the total war games stick to that or download mods for it if you bored of vanila one

Personally I loved it, and will be buying the Druids DLC when it's finally released on Steam.

Just forget Total War because it's not. It's more about the RPG side of developing your Knights/Heros and unleashing their special skills in battle. If you are obsessed with historical accuracy it's not the game for you.

The battles can actually get very tactical and do require a fair bit of skill and forethought.

The only downside to it (for me) is that it's not really sandboxy:

In the Vanilla game you only play as King Arthur, and the variation comes in whether you invest your skill in Christian/Pagan and Authorirtarian/Liberal directions (different paths unlock different skills and units).

With the Saxons DLC you can also plays as, yes, the Saxons. Again though you always start from the same position.

I would have liked a bit more variation, as with only two starting positions it can lack a little replayability. Having said that I have clocked up 170 hours on it according to Steam. Not bad for a tenner.

The Druids DLC will add Wales as a third playable faction. And Dragons. :D

I really enjoyed it, but for some reason I've encountered real bugs with it where it CTDs or (my current issue) the ground textures don't show up unless I drop the resolution. As a result my steam log is mainly hours of me trying to get it to work. Sad as I loved the battles.

It's bloody fantastic is what it is.

Loved the fantasy aspect, the levelling system and the resource management (albeit not very in-depth) and fighting against demons in giants in epic battles.

Great fun.

Yeah it's more like the old warhammer games, Shadow of the Horned Rat and the other one, than Total War.

Enjoyed it more than the last couple of Total War games that's for sure.

Its up on weekend deal on steam so its only £2.24. I like the game just find it very difficult and i am an experienced total war player.

Can anyone give me some tips.

If it's a battle that's part of a quest, the battle can change depending on your choices in the quest. There's one almost impossible battle when you're looking for Excalibur that becomes a lot easier if you pick certain conversation choices in the quest dialogues rather than just charging in.

Pay close attention to which troops fight on which terrain, even more so than Total War.

Early on the archer units are fairly overpowered, use plenty of them but keep them out of trouble, and give your Knights spells to complintent your forces (there's one battle against the Shide, in Fog, on the coast that I found virtually impossible until I created a disposable army consisting entirely of archers and two knights adept at he sunshine skill). Later on the 'Acid Rain' spell is just about the best skill in the game; low cost and murderous on emeny archers, leaving you to pick off forces from a distance with your own bowmen afterwards.

Also, the events are plot driven. So once you have your Keep, be patient and don't trigger any missions for a while so that you can build up a big reserve of Gold and Food.

There are some handy gameplay threads at the Neocore King Arthur Forums (not the Paradox Interactive ones).

Anyone know why i'm getting 20fps on this? Tried lowest and highest settings and fps does not change.

never had one of these game's before but thought i would try one and im downloading it now.

not bad for £9 for the dlc's as well.

Is it easy to get into? I never had the time to work out how Total War worked, would i be wasting my time with this game?

The tutorial is fairly straight forward but once it leaves you on your own, how well do you cope with huge maps in real time controlling lots of legions?

Then off battle managing armies to take over provinces? :p
