King size bed. Worth upgrading?

Just back from Thailand and the bed in one of the hotels was the biggest I have ever seen, roughly measured it ( by lying sidewards and seeing how much wider it was ) , was 7 - 7.5 feet wide :p

King Size definitely worth the extra over Queen Size but we didn't really see the point in going to Superking, it would just have eaten up more room space.

The most noticeable difference going from a double to a king is the extra 6" in length. Im 6 foot tall, and it was so much better not having my feet hanging off the edge of the bed. Ive since found myself sometimes sleeping 6 inches further down the bed so my feet are hanging off the edge. Must be a phsychomaological thingy.

Pffft too small? I sleep in a smaller than single bed with my boyfriend when i stay at his uni flat. :p

Yeh, I have this too, although it's when my girlfriend comes to visit me at uni...but you aren't her, so I need not worry about most of my posts :D

Sucks beng in halls and having a small bed, but then at home I have a double which is a brilliant size for my and my girlfriend, and at her's is a single...somehow I'm the one that doesn't get any sleep at uni and at her's :(

Ours is an all metal superking and yeah it was about £1100 i think. Thank god for interest free over 4 years :D

Superking 4tw, we got loads of them for free (dad used to manage Dorma) :D

King, double and single are not worthy any more :p

Seriously though, king is great but for true comfort with 2 or more people you cant beat super.

actually for whomever was overheating...

my gf and I have a duvet each. hers is a mega-thick down-filled one and mine is a thin synthetic one...both are double sized...

since letting her have one to herself, she stopped encroaching o
into my side of the bed...

Men and women basically shouldn't share the same bed, i read an article on the bbc about some study they carried out and basically women are much deeper sleepers than men and move around more, this results in men getting a bad nights sleep as the don't sleep so deeply so are woken up all the time. They did a study with several couples and monitored them for a week sharing a bed and a week sleeping seperatley and all the men slept better alone.

My missus also does the moveing steadily closer and closer thing in the night I often find myself sleeping half on the wooden bed surround allthough moaning about it all the time does seem to have fixed this somewhat!

We went all silly and got a SUPER king size... its enourmous!

Going on holiday and staying in a king size now feels weird and tiny. :p

Only bad point is getting new bed linen, its expensive for super king size.

What he said^

Super kingsize are great, so much room to move about without feeling cramped.

If you get a big bed, get the best mattress you can buy, we bought a sealy orthapedic, very hard, but very comfortable. Sleeping has never been better.

you have your measurements a tad wrong

A double is 53 inches ~ 135cm
A queen is 60 inches - 150cm
A king size is 76 inches ~ 190cm (basically the size of two singles)

Queen size isn't a British measurement.

You have

Single: 3' by 6'3"
Double: 4'6" by 6'3"
King: 5' by 6'6"
Superking 6' by 6'6"

Doubles are too short for anyone over 5'9" really as the recommendation is for the bed to be around 6" longer than the occupant(s).
