The first did need some modding to get it to a place I liked but I'm currently on my third playthrough and the world they created is just fantastic.
I've never had that feeling of immersion from just walking through a finely crafted woodland area with nothing happening but birdsong and interesting details.

Can't wait to see what they reveal on the 18th.

I eventually gave up on the first one, the combat was just so poor in my opinion. Too much mouse flailing.
That annoyed me to start with until I realised mashing is the opposite of how it works, it was all about timing. After I figured that out it became satisfying.

It is one of my favourite games ever. Starting as literally useless? Awesome.

Running through with no visual fight clues and all the ailments life could throw at me ended up being the most immersive experience I can recall have in a game.

I think it's one of the few I've never thrown a mod at either tbh.

Can't wait, although it means I'll have to run through the first again. Maybe. :)

I felt the same the first time I played it, and gave up after a couple of hours. Then a few years later whilst l was looking for something "new" to play through decided to give it another go and:

This basically.

You quite literally start off as an inexperienced peasant who's never swung a sword in his life, both your character in-game, and as a player learning to actually use the controls. I really enjoyed it after it "clicked" and completed it including all the side quests. Really need to pick up the DLC at some point actually!

I loved the original right up until I hit a progress breaking bug, which has never been fixed. I'd have to go back and redo several hours of gameplay to fix it.

I found the loading in the game the major turn off.... Traversing somewhere? Watch the character slug it up a map as it loads. Instead of instant load... Same with sleep

Sure it's trying to be realistic as possible but as a "game" I found this boring enough to uninstall :(

I do t know, I got quite a bit through the first one but ultimately the combat still felt clanky and unintuitive even when you “git gud”. I think ultimately no matter how you swing it (pun intended) the mouse flailing just ended up feeling like mouse flailing.

Tried at least 3 times with the first one but just couldn't get into it and kept giving up. Don't know the reason why because superficially it seemed a good game, but just didn't 'grab' me. It was certainly no Witcher

Yeah, almost just by virtue of the fact that The Witcher is set in a fantasy world and Deliverance was based on a historical setting without monsters and magic.
Also first person, and a completely incomparable game in general.

Bought this for £4 about 3 weeks ago - i find it pretty immersive.
Spent a lot of time picking flowers - i only got 4 levels to go of flower picking then ill get "leg day" perk, so picking flowers will give me strength.
If you like these types of games Icansee the unique appeal of it, combat does seem flappy.

It's what I thought too. I already have the game and went looking for the DLC. The royal edition (full game plus all the DLC) was only 4 quid so bought it all again. They deserve my money :)
Damn, that's not bad! *goes key shopping*

I don't remember much (any?) loading? Do you mean the fast travel? In which case I though that was done quite well (although I didn't use it much); the world isn't supposed to be a nice safe place where you could just travel around as you pleased without any risk, so if you could bypass all the random encounters/attacks just by instantly fast travelling everywhere then it would take away from that (IMO).

I loved the hardcore mode. You could even die in the menu screen lol.

Plus, no fast travel, no combat aids, everything is harder so makes you think. Oh and add on tapeworms, sleep walking and the like and it still sticks with me as some of the best fun I've had gaming

Which was that?

I played it long after release, I don't remember many bugs but then much will have been patched out. Oh, there may have been a side quest story that I had an issue with, can't fully remember tbh.

I can't remember exactly but it was to do with two quests, one involving a cathedral and the other a village where everyone got sick. For some reason the cathedral quest bugged out and you could never progress it.

Ah, I think the one I had was around the cathedral. Luckily it only happened on one of my playthroughs, think it took a certain pattern of events to trigger/not trigger it.

First one was a fantastic game, I loved the fact you actually had to gain skills as the character and didn't just start as the saviour of the world with all the power and skills that go with it, rally looking forward to seeing if this is really number 2. :)
