I watched Mr Worthabuy having a wander around KCD2 and was struck about how much it looks like the first one (which is fine by me as it looked lovely) so hopefully it's just an enhanced engine rather than a new one.

It is running on Cryengine like the first one. But their own customized. They actually co-operated with Crytek to create new DX12 renderer.
Main improvements are in better facial animations, volumetric clouds, better SVOGI and better LoD.

It still takes place in medieval Bohemia (Czech Republic) but locations are new, Czech Paradise/Trosecko is first map and Kuttenberg is second map.
