Rather than a remake of the first film I think this is meant to bring the "modern" 3 films to join up with the originals.
Oh god, not Beneath the Planet of the Apes. Please no.

Someone was smoking some good 60s gear when they thought up Beneath the Planet of the Apes, I re-watched the originals fairly recently, the first one is still great but the sequel...
It's been quite a few years since I watched it so maybe I'm being kind. After liking the first film my recollection was that the sequel had some good elements to it, but the plot seemed a bit disjointed and ultimately pointless, as though the writers weren't really sure where they were taking the story. Wasn't there a rumour that Charlton Heston was supposed to be the star again, but ended up only being in it for 5 minutes due to money issues/creative differences?
I just couldn't get over the weird mutant humans worshipping the atomic bomb haha.
It's probably most died from the disease or they'll do a small flashbackDid they just avoid making a movie showing how apes somehow managed to overcome the various militaries of the world? I remember one of these movies showing the start of that fight but iirc by the next movie it was over and they had already won. 0_o
It's been a while since I've seen the modern trilogy, but I'm sure humans were falling prey to a disease of some kind that made them dumb. This gave the chimps opportunity to grow and take over essentially.Did they just avoid making a movie showing how apes somehow managed to overcome the various militaries of the world? And on top of that from the trailers the apes speak much more in the new film. Adds to the whole Humans devolve from the virus and Apes evolve from the virus story. It's been a while since I've seen the modern trilogy, but I'm sure humans were falling prey to a disease of some kind that made them dumb. I guess they are trying to tie it back to the originals where humans had reverted back to being Neanderthal-like. I can't remember if that was ever explained as to why that had happened though.
