I notice there are a few where shall I move to threads today so thought I would jump on the bandwagon :D

Anyone got any views on Kings Lynn and the surrounding areas?

£391/month into Kings Cross in about 90 minutes and reasonable house prices...

Am I missing anything?! :)

90 mins on a good day, plus bits on either end, 2 hours to get to work and 2 hours back? I'd rather pay more for the house and live closer. If I lived in Kings Lynn I would want to work in Kings Lynn.

I must admit though, North Norfolk is one of my favourite areas and I'd move there if I could.

Its about getting away from London and getting more at the same time.... £300,000 wont buy much in SE London where we are now but it would in KL and the surrounding villages :)

I live there (about 10 miles away, it was my nearest 'town') for about 3 years, just left 4 months ago.

It's rubbish, really 'dingy'

Downham market/ely/newmarket are much better.

I lived in kings lynn until I was 15, and honestly, its a dump, even the more upper-class areas are dumps, and if you didn't get the message yet, its a dump..

A few nice little villages in the surrounding areas, but mostly, I'd not bother..

not a fan of kings lynn myself (or lynn as the locals call it) some of the more rural areas are ok and you can get more for you money but a car is a must, my parents own a post office in a place called terrington st john which is about 10 minutes from kings lynn and thats nice, everyone is friends with everyone else, even the local gypsys are nice.

Guys its the location of the beers of Europe warehous/shop though!! :D

Other than that it did not look a great place. Also it's to flat for my liking. Cheshire is flat I don't like Cheshire either.

That is all.

That was the one good thing about being there :D

On the plus side you can order online from them ;)

Town centre isn't too bad, area is ok but there are some very bad drivers in norfolk. Best to be just outside King's Lynn as the town is rather run down. Lots of europeans live in the area too. Be careful on house renting here though as landlords tend to not care so much or take forever in getting something done. Also an hours drive to Norwich or Peterborough so big shopping spree could happen

I had friends who lived there... seemed a bit of a depressing place to me - might be partly coz the whole area is so flat and I've always found that depressing.

Widely known as King's Bin locally so that might give you some idea. On the plus side it's better than Wisbech!

If your gonna move into this area then move to norwich. If you have a job in london then stay in london or the surrounding area.

It is also full of foreigners.

I think there are nicer places in East Anglia that will get you in to London quicker for about the same amount of money.

Anywhere close to Peterborough will make life fairly easy for you.

GNER (or whatever it is called now) is 50 mins from Peterborough to London.

If you fancy the cheaper (and slower train) aim for near Cambridge, Godmanchester and the villages around Huntingdon are ok (apart from Chattaris).

King's Lynn itself is, as already stated many-a-time, pretty appalling. Best thing about it is the road out.

If you're spending that sort of money there are MUCH nicer places in Norfolk with similar commuting times, but as suggested above maybe look further towards Ely / Cambs way - I wouldn't touch P'boro with a barge pole though, just sitting in that dump of a train station for an hour makes me never want to go back again... (shame I have to in order to get to York every three weeks!).

Wow, small world, I live in Walpole St Peter which is about 5-10mins from Terrington St John
