KINGSTON 40GB SSD HELP?

Hey All,

Just need some serious advice here.. I have a crucial 64GB M225 SSD drive and also purchased 2 x 40GB Kingston SSD drives.

Initially I was planning on Raid 0 the two Kingston drives and sending the crucial m225 64GB back to where I bought it from but after a lot of research most people are saying that there will eventually be a lot of physical wear in the kingston drives as trimming not supported on Raid 0 and favoured the Crucial m225 64GB ssd.

Now I am getting the rest of my components in the next 2 days hopefully and I am confused of which configuration to go for and which is going to be better in the long run?

2 x 40GB Kingston SSD in Raid 0 configuration or a single 64GB Crucial M225?

Please can you guys advise me of which config to go for?

I was also thinking of using the Crucial in my new machine and instead of sending the 2 x 40gb kingstons I could use one in my Samsung NC10 Netbook and the other 40GB for my HTPC when I build it in a few months as a boot drive.

Really appreciate all the help and advice :) thanks

Above would be the most hassle free way of doing it IMHO. No issues with TRIM, having to break the raid and reimage etc etc. If you build the PC first and arent happy with it you could always try the kingstons afterwards :D

Well if you do decide to sell the kingstons I know DavyBoy said he wanted to buy 2 more!

HOWEVER,

I have 2 kingstons and so far I am thoroughly impressed!

hmmm well this is the thing guys.. I am still waiting for my items to be delivered..hopefully shall get it by monday.. I have a few days to make up my mind.. All I want to know really am I going to see a huge difference if I go for the 2 x40GB kingstons or will I be better off installing the crucial instead..

Also if I were to install one of the 40GB into my Samsung NC10 will I really see a performance boost and will it save battery life ?

Thanks :)

pretty impressive.. are you pleased with your raid 0?

Yeah I'm very pleased, everything opens in an instant. Can defo tell the diff compared to my sammy f3 which I now use to store media and less used apps/ games. I currently have all my regularly used apps and company of heros & mw2 on the ssds which still leaves me circa 35 gb to play with. I ran the test again (after installing those apps) and the numbers remained the same (well, close as damn to it).

Setting up raid was a doddle and this was my first time. What was a little hassle was assembling the desktop kit and getting it in the HD cage but hey ho I got there in the end.

I plan on sticking star trek online onto the ssd too when it becomes available. But I don't know if I should put iTunes on there or not! Anyone got any thoughts on this? Would i be better served to install it onto my HD where effectively all my media is now housed??
