kingston bh5 incompatable with asrock 939dual ??

i tried to add these 2 256mb sticks, but the pc will not boot at 200 2-2-2-6, with voltage set to high (~2.7), they worked ok at 189mhz but when i changed the divider to make them run at 200, the pc crashes or reboots.
3 other bh5 sticks i have, made by twinmoss work fine at 200 2-2-2-5.

it says 2.6v on the ram, so i shouldnt really have to voltmod to 3.1 to get these to work should i ? :mad:

Try changin ram voltage in the bios to 'high' which sets it at 2.7v. BH5 was well known for needing higher voltages to reach its optimal fsb/latency capabilities.

its always set to high

All I can suggest then is try running 2T, higher timings etc, as it could either be an incompatability, or that RAM stick requires more volts to reach peak performance... I seem to remember some people running about 3.3V through thier sticks of that to get best performance back in the day, and that'd almost fry some ram today!

it was 2t, also tried 2.5-3-3-8, basically these wont do their rated speed of 2-2-2-6 2.6v

i could give them 3.1v or 3.3v, but i dont think i should have to do that just to get them to run at 200mhz

Very true, they should do rated speeds, but what voltage was recommended for them? It might have been 2.8... Are you able to test it in another machine at 2.7v and see if the same errors occur? If so, it could be the ram dimm is faulty, if not, its either undervolting or faulty.

2.6v 2-2-2-6 200mhz

it does work fine at 189 2-2-2-6 on both normal and high voltage.

Mmmm... have you tried runnign 5-3-2@2 at 200MHz on high. If that works, we can assume it perhaps needs some more volts, or is faulty, as I'd imagine an faulty stick would be unstable at most timings at 200Mhz.

Mmmm...sounds like a faulty/undervolting DIMM then. Is it less than a year old? Not the first time I seen RAM stop suddenly, my dad's pc died last week when the RAM gave up the ghost for no reason.
