So i've had a few Gen5 drives now to play with but this new Kingston Gen5 is pretty impressive! Kingston sent over 2 of these for testing and build mods so it's abit of a treat to get to experience them first hand.

What impressed me the most is the temperatures, for the speed achieved it was still under 50c. Prolonged testing i expect it to go abit higher than that, but this was performed on my Asus X870i Gaming Wifi ITX board on the bottom slot (Runs at Gen5) which also doubles as a heatsink for the chipset so temps are expected to be abit higher here.

Comparison of the older Gen4 Fury drive compared to the Gen5 Fury drive.

Thanks, was it underneath that L-shaped heatsink on the motherboard?

I have the B760I ITX motherboard and with the Fury Gen4 heatsink version it idles at 47'c!

Yep its under the L shaped heatsink which doubles as the chipset heatsink as well.

My idle temps are quite abit lower even for the Gen4 drive.

Whats your ambient temps? Mine are always around 20c except for this week where we've had a heat wave and my ambient temps are closer to 25/26c!

Ah yes, it could be airflow through the case, looking at HWINFO

MB 37'c
DIMM 37'c
Kingston 40'c (this is completely different to the Kingston app!)

Nice! I've been looking at those recently. What is also tempting though, is the Samsung 9100 Pro. It can be had cheaper at the moment for £155. Still a bit more than the KC3000 drives I picked up nearly 3 years ago now. I think the 1TB KC3000 cost me £79. Still a bit of premium on these GEN5 drives by the looks of it.
