Im getting poor write speeds in atto benchmark of only 200mb (read speeds ok @ 520mb +)

This is consistent and capped every time at 200mb

Its a new build with :
Asus prime b350m-a mobo
ryzen 1400
corsair vengeance lpx 3000mhz 8gb

i notice stuttering in games as well....consistent with past experience of having textures turned up too high on slower drves....but even when i turn settings down the symptoms are the same.

is there something im missing here? like a bios setting? i have seen benchmarks online that reach 550mb speeds :https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DPQQMCLwuOE

even though the kingston specs here say max 200 mb : https://www.kingston.com/en/ssd/system-builder/sm2280s3g2

any help appreciated as i have been out of the pc building game for over a decade and may be missing something with this new technology...thanks.

The write speeds aren't poor per se, they are exactly what the specs say they should be.

The reason for the difference is at some point Kingston have changed the NAND in use on that SSD, and it went from a double sided board with 4 NAND packages to a single sided board with less (likely only 2 on the 120/240 models). Therefore as less channels from the controller are in use the speeds have dropped. It's not great that Kingston changed NAND on an SSD without making it a new model as it leads to this sort of confusion (they have done this numerous times in the past, however), but it's seems very likely your SSD is performing at the exact speed it should be. It's just that the newer versions of that SSD in smaller capacities will be slower than the older original models.
