Just wondered if anyone has ever seen or used acrylic sheets in a kitchen to cover the complete wall(s), floor to ceiling?

I see that they're commonly used as a splash back in kitchens and for shower cubicles in bathrooms.

I was thinking of using it as an alternative to tilling, but haven't looked into costs or colours, patterns etc.

Just like to add, this is for a very small kitchen :)

Thanks for the reply & name.

Clearly bathrooms are more their thing. The kitchen ones do look rather odd, not sure what problems there would be fitting a bathroom one in to a kitchen?

This company has a better offering http://www.multipanel.co.uk just need to get an idea of costs.

Would this not scratch very easily? Not such an issue in a bathroom, but in a kitchen where you're wielding pans, knives and other sharp/heavy metal implements, it's only a matter of time before you end up with a huge unsightly gouge in your shiny plastic wall...

Surely this stuff is a lot more hard wearing than that.

Also, remind me never to be in a kitchen with you, with all your wielding! :p

a kitchen wall covering would have to be a lot more durable than a bathroom wall covering, you have heat and sharp objects in a kitchen... iirc I think they usually have a glass to go behind a stove rather than acrylic (although they may have advanced since the last time I looked)
The thing I hate about all of these things is the joints in the panels, I've yet to see a system that has a nice joint when doing full walls.
Are you seriously thinking of tiling your whole kitchen? the only time I've done that is in commercial kitchens, it's a fairly expensive exercise and decent panels aren't going to be much of a saving...if any
I have used altro wall panels before which can be welded together to give a seamless joint - but I don't know the costs of that one

I'm about to do something similar to add some colour to my kitchen so this has reminded me to look in to it.

The plan is to have quartz worktops with upstands and then a matching quartz splashback. Either side of the range cooker I will have a coloured piece of glass/perspex cut to the contour of the wall around the cupboards.
