Spent most of today trying to get a replacement standard shelf for a kitchen cabinet. Have been to all the usual suspects i.e. Wickes, Ikea, Homebase, B&Q etc but have been totally unable to source one.
Apparently they aren't sold separately which I find hard to believe. The basic dimensions are depth 50cm & width 56cm.
Anyone have any ideas before I pull all my hair out?
Thanks

End decor panels are the same and they will sell them separately. You’ll have to rip one down but you’ll get a nice edge to the front.

just get a bit of conti board
Yes, that's what B&Q said pointing to some then dryly saying we don't cut it.

Every other part of a kitchen seems to be modular apart from the shelves.... new door no problem.... shelf hinges... packets of 20 over there. An extra shelf??? What kinda sick person are you???
Sorry long frustrating day!

No worries i feel your pain, i need a 600mm cabinet but all sizes are like rocking horse doo doo round here. conti and as macca said end panels are easy to cut, good luck :)

If you buy anything laminated and cut it, make sure you tape it etc report back if you need more advice as to machines and blades.

I need to do this too to replace a knackered sliding larder unit.

@Hyburnate I also need an excuse to buy a saw too, any suggestions? :)
There's a dedicated thread but for this I'd personally recommend a circular saw, and due to laminate topping you want to use a really high tpi blade and cut from the back (unfinished side) to the front. I always use masking tape to tape over the good side to protect it more.

If I'm honest tool suggestions is a really weird thing because once you're in a brand its expensive to get out of! If you just need it for basic DIY, the evolution 240v from Screwfix will do you just fine.

IKEA sell shelves, it's just the run of the mill places that don't :p

Back to front? Eh? Isn't that how you end up with a chipped leading edge?
