Kitten microwaved to death!

They can already get bans on keeping animals with varying success rates and custodial sentences, but I took the implication you meant the wider issues around animal abuse particularly potential. Waiting until an animal or, person even, has been butchered isn't very pro-active.

Well, I'm not sure how you can be pro-active about watching every last person in case they show any inclination of harming an animal.

Even looking at treatment for those who are convicted is it likely to drastically improve any re-offending? I ask this having never even contemplated looking at such statistics. I am of the impression that such convictions are relatively low, I could be mistaken though.

I have no idea. I'm prepared to bet that it would be more successful at reducing re-offending and keeping people alive than microwaving the perpetrators.

In any event, is it seriously likely that general consensus would be of solution and analysis? Why can't people be justifiably angered by a persons actions alone?

Anger is worthless if you don't plan to do anything useful with it. I doubt anyone posting their rage-y fantasies has any such plans.

How can this woman have no empathy whatsoever? There wasn't a moment in her brain which said 'What if I was that cat?'

Crazy! I know its only a cat, but Its not too dissimilar from thinking about other people. Really scares me how people can be like that.

Von, your logic is flawed. So what if we on these forums address the underlying or causal issues that led this person to act in this way? What would actually happen if we as a forum do this? Nothing. Is it not the same as raging? In both cases not a damn thing will be done either way, but trying to sit in the comfort of my chair analysing the root cause of her misplaced rage just makes me look more intelligent.

Someone has posted a vile act committed by a vile individual. Rage is the correct response in my opinion. In fact, the only thing that will help people like her is if she is dealt with harshly. It is doubtful that she has the intellectual capacity to understand anything else.

I'm not asking people to pontificate on here about what could be done. I'm asking people to do something in the real world to make things better for all concerned.

And that's massive speculation to just dismiss her as stupid.

Awaits Tummy to come and say:

"So what? It's just a cat."

It is "just" a cat, it was someone's pet too.

It's sad and it's a horrible act of animal Cruelty.

You'd be surprised at some of the vile acts that people commit.

Yep, people do and have always done horrible things.

All I want for Christmas is for someone to throw battery acid in Gina Robins face, will it happen not likely. :(

Another vile cancerous toilet floater strikes again.

Well, that might not "be doing" a horrible thing, but that is certainly a horrible thing to wish upon someone.

Two wrongs don't make a right. I'm a bit shocked that you've managed to get away with saying something like that to be honest TANK.

Look, don't get me wrong, Cruelty to animals isn't big nor clever, it's horrible and what makes it worse is the helplessness of it all, but really? Some of the rage at this woman is just as horrible. People are wishing as TANK did to injure someone over this? Really?

Makes you just as bad as them, stooping to their levels.

Just how dense is this bint? :D

I actually laughed at that, I could imagine it in court, some woman all suited and booted talking to the courtroom and saying that, straight faced and calling an expert witness to explain that a cat wouldn't be able to do this.

it's an animal.

and the act is not nice, but all of you people wishing death on this person need to take a step back and lay off of the stella.

person kills cat, kill person? thats just stupid.

she should have just put in in the bin...... oh wait...

I'd put money on them having sociopathic tendencies - they obviously are lacking in the empathy department.

In my eyes it's no better than doing the same thing to a baby, defenseless animal or defenseless person, makes little difference, at the end of the day the facts are there that the person has to have something very wrong with them to do that. If they can do it to a cat what's to stop them doing it to another human being?

Why should one being that can understand pain, fear and love be valued over another that can feel the same?

If this was done to a child someone would be in prison for a VERY long time, don't see why this should be any different.

Size of microwaves?

Because animals are, quite rightly, treated very differently from humans. Animal cruelty is a crime but animals should never be given the same rights as a human being it would be completey unworkable.

Note that i'm only talking about animals that understand affection here and have relationships between them and humans. A cat will recognize its owner and know who and what to be scared of, something like a cow on the other hand would not.

How do you know they wouldn't? (Ignoring the fact that my last cat would show affection to anyone that would feed it.) If we treated cows in the same way we treated cats would they act the same? Take pigs as an example, some people keep them as pets and they seem to act just like any ordinary pet. Does that mean they should have protected status too?
