KK to retire can Starwars be saved? “MCU to "Refocus”

Well done Disney you managed to make a half decent show but you really have killed the Starwars franchise. Shocking. These viewing numbers are also heavily in favour of Disney!

Star Wars needs put on a 5-10 year break. Sack your current writing teams and hire actual talent and not hacks and come out with a new trilogy not linked to OG movies.

I really don't know what they were thinking. Actually i reckon I do - most of this stuff the produce to serve Disney+, but given that Disney+ still isn't technically solvent.

Which actually is a shame because i would argue that from a value prospective in the UK (not so much in the states) access to Disney is brilliant value for the Star tab alone.
The film actually receives good ratings from cinema goers. Disney just don’t understand the audience that are willing to part money to see their content. The budget was also insane.

That shocked me. I've seen a few people try to rationalise it, but I'd still be asking where the money is actually going.
Two of my favourite Disney StarWars shows is the least watched.

Will be interesting to see how Andor will finish since they are condescending the show into one final season.

Sonic has a staggered international release and the article did state that Worldwide box office should go into Disney favour.
Cost double to make as well (although given its Disney its probably closer to 300m rather than 200m)
Don’t forget the number of theatres Disney have booked and wrapped up in deals.

Turns out Disney plus is only profitable because of ESPN!!

In its most recent earnings report, Disney’s streaming unit (Disney+, Hulu and ESPN+) generated a quarterly profit of $47 million. It marked the first time Disney’s direct-to-consumer unit was profitable. When ESPN+ is not included, Disney recorded a loss of $19 million.

I'm quite surprised, and tempted to wonder if people are just Star Wars weary?

I mean the original film was a massive success, but only really because there had never been anything like it before. It almost defined a new genre. But they have beaten that horse to death.
This thread has pretty much catalogued it all. Miss management, intentionally alienating original fans and the films/TV shows have been completely ******* driving away what fans are left.

Also left leaning media companies have came out and said it’s now ok to dislike Disney+ content since it’s mostly poor and they were wrong for labelling people bad names for doing so. (In general Hollywood is trying to do a U-turn)

They took the biggest IP and ran it into the ground. One would argued that Star Wars should never been anywhere near a streaming service never mind having characters like Vader and Obi Wan in them. Those characters put bums in seats at the theatre.

Which is a shame, because the big difference between the two is that skeleton crew was half decent and not intent on alienating a whole audience during its PR campaign.
I really like it. Maybe word of mouth will help improve viewers towards the end of season but for now it’s in the pan.

For Star Wars, they need to stop films/shows which happen AFTER ROTJ and go do the Old Republic.

They've got 1000's of years of stories to be told where the Jedi and Sith were at their peak yet we've had zilch outside of the video games.
They just need to stop. At present it’s damaged goods.
