Hi all, going to be having either Trochleaopasty or reconstruction of my medial patella femoral ligament in two weeks time, anyone know what length of time before being able to go back to work could be? will need to sort a fit note out somehow.

My grandad is just out of the hospital, he is in agony from his op and he ain't no wimp, he was in for six days. But he says it's deffo worth it.

speak to your surgeon.....though he/she will be overly optimistic.

mine told me 2-3 weeks.

I got back to full duties in 14 months:(

though this was due to bad reaction to surgery and many subsequent set-backs in rehabilitation.

My mate had some knee op done, ligament or some sort. Anyway, he was back in work in a week.

i have heard of the odd story of people getting back to normal quickly after a knee op but have to say the vast majority of people i speak to who have knee surgery take a long time to recover and that's with a lot of hard work on the physio side.

He is still in pain mind and gives him grief now and then. But he is back in the gym doing the odd run/cycling etc. He only went under less than a month ago.

Had knee surgery mid April, basically had some tendons reconstructed and my knee-cap "re-placed" so it was back in the groove again (sounds fun huh), I was hobbling around in a big bandage with my leg unbendable for a week, but walking in general was a real pain for 2-3 weeks or so afterwards.

It would depend on what you do I suspect.

Besides ask your doctor, he will be able to give you a better idea than a bunch a chaps on an internet forum.

I like the irony of your username also..;)
