Knock knock..

my VW Golf Plus with PD140 lump, this morning started knocking from the front passenger side.

Knock is only on deceleration and is in time with wheel rotation.

Also only at low speed and not all of the time.

Any suggestions? Got me baffled.

I had a random knock from the rear passenger side in time with wheel rotation.
Turned out the Inner CV joint had kinda imploded

Sounds like wheel bearings.

it will still be ok for a while. When they go on my van I replace them because it's annoying More than dangerous. I've driven with the noise for 6 months with one of the sides.

thats what i was thinking, but it only does it sometimes.

i hate intermittent faults

its in for MOT, service and cambelt tomorrow but i need to get it there (40 miles home from work).

Not on my van they don't. Had both sides changed and now I need the passage side done again.

They knock faster and slower with the speed of the wheel.

As op said his stops and starts. Mine have done the same untill it's all the time.

Eurgh. Well its turned out to be a dried out CV causing drive shaft to need replacing.
