Korean Grand Prix 2010, Korean International Circuit - Race 17/19

Could be very interesting if a mclaren manages to get a jump on a red bull on the first straight, I can see the bull's struggling to get past them all the way through the twisty bit, and if they do sneak past, then the mclaren will be back on the arse of it on the 3 straights!

The RB will just crash into the back of the McLaren, take it out and go on to get on the podium... on fire... with the drivers legs sticking out the front powering the car.. just like Fred.

My quick summary of FP1, Track is like an ice rink but looks like it's rubbering in quickly, slightly bumpy, very dusty, will clean up quickly though. Only thing is, absolutely terrible camera coverage all the way round the track, can't see anything most of the time.

Also, pit exit seems very dodgy, entrance even more so. The entrance is on the racing line of a blind flat out bend, it's asking for something to happen, and the exit spits the cars straight onto the exit of T1, so cars coming into T1 at normal speed can't see the cars coming out of the pits until they're right in front of them, and obviously cant slow any more than they already are halfway through braking/a corner.

Been struggling to sleep all night thanks to the IDIOTS upstairs, so I've finally given up and started watching FP2.

Even though I feel like death I'm still loling at that pit entrance.

Nice to see Hamitlon top the time sheet earlier this morning. Made me feel a little better.

Watched the two sessions this morning. The track is looking much quicker than at the start, so should be okay for Sunday. There is still a lot of dust and dirt being kicked up off track though.

Not sure on the pit entrance and exit.

The Hispania Racing team has been fined $5,000 for an incident involving Sakon Yamamoto during practice for the Korean Grand Prix.

The Japanese driver was released from his garage with a tyre warmer still attached to the car, and a team personnel entered the pit exit to recover the warmer, breaching articles 23.1(j), 30.7 and 30.9 of the sporting regulations.

lol

Good, we have something nice and challenging for the drivers to deal with ... that can only be a good thing

Tweaks to be made to the track overnight - http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/87625

Korean Grand Prix organisers are making minor modifications to the new Formula 1 track on Friday night following complaints from drivers about potential trouble spots on the new Yeongam circuit.

Although drivers were mostly impressed with the layout of the new Korean track, they requested some changes be made to the venue following Friday's first practice sessions.

Following discussions with FIA race director Charlie Whiting at Friday night's drivers' briefing, it was agreed that tweaks be made to two areas in particular - the controversial Turn 16 left-hander and the final Turn 18 apex.

With the cars having bottomed out a lot at the Turn 16 apex, with the kerb lower than the track itself, race organisers are now re-profiling the kerb to make it higher. This should prevent drivers from being encouraged to cut the corner too much.

Work is also being done to re-profile the wall on the exit of Turn 16. The original design had the wall filtering in close to the edge of the track on the right hand side exit of the curve, and that has now been moved back so it runs parallel to the track.

Furthermore, the organisers are building a new apex kerb at the final Turn 18 apex, after drivers kept cutting the corner during free practice - which dragged dirt and stones onto the circuit.

The new kerb will be made lower than the apex of the turn, which will act as a deterrent so drivers do not cut the corner. This should also make the final Turn 17 much more of a kink, with drivers having to be more careful as they exit the long right-hander.

The FIA has also agreed that the track surface will be extensively cleaned overnight to try and get rid of the dust that was dragged onto the track during the free practice sessions.

Some tweaks will also be made to the pitlane entry, which was a concern for the drivers.

Well first gp in a while I get pretty much the whole weekend to enjoy it! Im impressed with the track so far, though that's pretty much entirely for the "street circuit" feel that's been mentioned a fair bit. Got to say the drivers just need to man up about the pit in and out really. They look a little tight (not as bad as Singapore in the first season with the entry) but they need things to keep them on their toes anyway!

Got a feeling this track will be decided on the saftey car though, bets are on who's punted into the walls first! (im going for webber gets vettel into one with failed overtake from vettel again)
