Hello all,

I have a new QA system here and I want to get rid of the 3 keyboards/mice cause its driving me mad. Below is an overview of the systems.

1 Dell 790 Desktop with ATI HD 7850 (1 x Dual-Link DVI, 1 x HDMI , 2 x Mini-DisplayPort)

1 Dell T5500 Workstation with nVidia Quadro 4000 (1 x Dual-Link DVI, 2 x Display Port)

1 Mac Pro June 2012 Model with ATI HD5770 (1 x Dual-Link DVI2 x Mini-DisplayPort)

I have 2 displays, 1 x 22inch and 1 x 19 inch.

I want to connect all 3 machines to these 2 monitors and run the correct dual screen mode.

I have seen 2 KVM switchs that looks like they will do the job, but all the ports are Digital DVI.
Startech: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B001GQ9D2I
AtenUSA: http://www.aten-usa.com/doc_data/pdf_dm/cs1644_kvm_switch_ss_en.pdf

Anyone ever done his before or know if its even doable. Am not clued up on digital outputs etc.

Cheers all
Joe

never tried it i'm afraid, but no reason i could see that it won't if you can get the right connections.

would it not be easier to get a kvm to use just one set of keyboard/mouse and leave the screens to the systems ?

by the way, best to remove the links before a mod spots them and does it for you :).

Never done it but seems potentially fraught with issues.

The AtenUSA ones looks better because it has:

VideoDataSync

That seems to support storing of EDID data. The Startech one does not seem to support any EDID data at all.

cheers lads

craarc: linkskey do indeed make one that will fit my needs. Waiting n rely from there support team to confirm

Cheers again all
