L3 Switches and Firewall

OK, had a quick chat with a few people, the issue at the moment is we may have issues with the WEEE and RoHS directives, officially at the moment we don't even let staff buy the old equipment off the company due to this. We're seeing if there's an easy way round it but it could be a few days, other things to attend to after my extended Christmas absence...
 
The usual really, it's the problem with Christmas, time for me to regroup but time for directors to have brainwaves too. Today's seems to be 'what more can we do about DDOS mitigation?' which will mean I need to spend a few days producing a report proving what we currently do is the only cost effective option...
 
No surprise there, after Christmas I find is the worst as it is. Spent most of today and yesterday fixing an outdated piece of financing software (needed for DD runs, joy! Doesnt help I work for a health and fitness company so now loads of people are signing up after christmas, its mental).

Any update on if there is a way around the eletronic waste directives and such, or will us buying the old kit be a no go?
