l4d2 dlc announced

I really want them to do this, it would rock

The 'L4d2 boycotters" would go mental too :D

Theres already a modder working on it, Link was talking to him yesterday. Apparently he has all the campaigns working but no versus ladders yet, so it might be playable so long as the Ghost Jump mod is used. Would be interesting if they did them officially though, but i can't see it.

Apparently theres a few glitches with stuff like the Gas Station Explosion causing a crash so its been removed, along with intro sequences. And BH is being changed to daytime.

Should have ghost mode on any server. It makes it that little bit harder to guess where the infected are and means infected can get infront of survivors easily (boomer especially) even if they're mad dashing it to the finish.

Our server uses ghost mod, slightly longer smoker tongue and when the door release plugin is made for l4d2 that will be on as well.

Yeah I have kept on eye on that guy, hopefully they work well and have the promaps mods :)

Yeah that was something Link suggested to him. Promap versions so they don't suck. Individual Map uploads so its easier to change a single campaign.

Think i'll wait till they're finished though, would probably be a bit... dodgy... until then. Especially without the SDK.

Left 4 dead 2 is set 2 weeks before Left 4 dead 1 isnt it so I dont see how they could kill off the others half way though or even at the end of the campaign.

An 8 on 8 scenario would be quality.

Valve have announced the first DLC for Left 4 Dead 2 with a twist. Bill, Zoey, Louis and Francis are back!

Entitled "The Passing," the add-on takes the form of a new campaign, where both sets of survivors meet up, along with new uncommon common, and new weapons. Also mentioned is a new co-op challenge game mode!

In addition to the new co-operative campaign and associated narrative, "The Passing" will include new arenas for Survival, Versus and Scavenge mode and introduce a new co-operative challenge mode of play. Tell us more Doug!
"The Passing" takes place just after the Dead Center campaign of L4D2. Set in a small town in rural Georgia, players assume the role of the L4D2 Survivors as they meet with the L4D1 characters.

The Passing will become the most important campaign in the Left 4 Dead story, as all the Survivors are being called together in one campaign
The Passing is set for an early Spring 2010 release for PC and 360. More details as we get them!

bit more from valve site:

ecember 14, 2009 - Valve, creators of best-selling game franchises (such as Half-Life, Portal, Team Fortress, and Counter-Strike) and leading technologies (such as Steam and Source), today announced the first game add-on for its co-operative zombie thriller, Left 4 Dead 2 (L4D2), is in development and targeted for release in early 2010.

Dubbed "The Passing," the first game add-on for L4D2 brings the original Left 4 Dead (L4D1) Survivors down south for a meeting with the L4D2 cast, while delivering new single-player, multiplayer and co-operative gameplay for the PC and Xbox 360.

Targeted for release in early spring, "The Passing" takes place just after the Dead Center campaign of L4D2. Set in a small town in rural Georgia, players assume the role of the L4D2 Survivors as they meet with the L4D1 characters.

In addition to the new co-operative campaign and associated narrative, "The Passing" will include new arenas for Survival, Versus and Scavenge mode and introduce a new co-operative challenge mode of play. The Passing will also include a new "uncommon common" zombie class, melee weapon, and firearm.

"The Passing will become the most important campaign in the Left 4 Dead story, as all the Survivors are being called together in one campaign," said Doug Lombardi, VP of marketing at Valve. "It will also be a huge offering of new gameplay content, with something new for every game mode plus a new uncommon common and weaponry."

Exclusively available for the Xbox 360 and PC, L4D2 sets a new benchmark for co-operative action games. The title adds melee combat to enable deeper co-operative gameplay, with items such as a chainsaws, frying pans, axes, baseball bats, and more.

With the AI Director 2.0, L4D's dynamic gameplay is taken to the next level by giving the Director the ability to procedurally change weather effects, world objects, and pathways in addition to tailoring the enemy population, effects, and sounds to match the players' performance. The result is a unique game session custom fitted to provide a satisfying and uniquely challenging experience each time the game is played.

Finally, with new Survivors, boss zombies, weapons, and items, Left 4 Dead 2 offers a much larger game than the original, featuring more co-operative campaigns, more Versus campaigns, new Survival maps, and the new competitive game mode, Scavenge.

Left 4 Dead 2: The Passing is targeted for release in early spring for the PC and Xbox 360. Pricing will be announced closer to launch.

its about time as i got 49/50 achievements before xmas day, sadly i dont play this any more, not as hard or as epic as the first game.

Bill, Francis, Louis and Zoey are way better characters then those in the second. They can't be killed off. :(

I cant remember the exact time frame but L4D2 is definately set after the events of the first game.

I used to think this but now I prefer the new characters, theres more interaction betweem them and humour

figured they would do this, cant see them not doing an 8v8 really though...... probably change the co-op for these larger groups so that they have to seperate into 2 groups down different paths or something too, to progress through the level. that would be a bit errr tasty!
