The Michelin Guide for 2013 was published back in October, so I thought it was time we had something similar for the posters here (something I've shamelessly stolen from Sports Arena with their Gym Rats award).

Just a bit of fun, and to say thanks to those who have helped this forum become good fun, full of knowledge and an interesting and decent place to be!

I hereby call on valued chefs, maître d's, food critics, brewers, photographers, drinkers & diners assembled within to put forth names of your nominations.

Like the Michelin Guide, there are no categories but rather stars. So, just put forward the names of the people who you wish to nominate and a starred rating (1 - 3) for them and a description of why you feel they deserve this (soon to be) coveted award.

This isn't a popularity contest, it's just to show thanks and recognition for the guys who have worked hard in this section. After a week or so, we'll count up the stars and see who will prevail. This may fall flat on its face, but ho hum!

My nominations:

QuickLink (**) - He's lucky where he lives, and takes full advantage by visiting many a fine restaurant and giving us great pictures and indepth reviews of the food. He also has much to say about recipes, food pairings and champagne.
DirtyJester (**) - For running the popular, and successful Beers of the World competition and often keeping the Now Eating thread bumped up with his numerous HUGE sandwiches!
The Seabiscuits! (*) - The brewing thread isn't the fastest moving thread around, but both Mrs & Mr Seabiscuit offer invaluable help and advice with Mrs especially offer kind words of encouragement.
FrenchTart (*) - Knows his food (especially the less commonly cooked stuff) and offers a lot of advice and help and has posted some really interesting threads teaching us how to produce some more unusual foods!

Wooden Spoon:
Cainer. (Little Chef Lolly) - Does this man ever eat anything but takeaways?!

Jonny69 - his thread got me baking bread, and kudos to anyone who eats a bird from the garden!

** :)

DJ for the beers of the world and Cainer for the takeaway irony right now :D (though I am so hungry for that pizza right now)

Seems a short contest from my eyes.

Awesome. Thanks for the mention Ahleckz.

I'd have to nominate:

Glaucas [*] - championing causes such as the health of animals fats and not holding any ridiculous beliefs about salt or MSG. Also, for hosting the OcUK Meat Meet in the near future :p
Johnny69 [*] - inspiring me to try home curing bacon and for general awesome experimentation with food and baking.
Glitch [*] and QuickLink [*] - Both amazing cooks :) Not much else to say - look at their posts for confirmation.

To be honest, nearly everyone that posts in here posts awesome stuff and even people that post mostly take away (:p) are still passionate about the food they enjoy and like to share that with everyone - which is great.

Has to be Johnny69!

His threads have been inspiring, funny and well written for years now. He brought cooking to OCUK (well to GD) before this sub-forum existed. I think he was pretty influential in getting this lovely part of the forum created.

He is certainly the one who gets my vote.

I'd certainly agree with all this. Jonny is the one who I first remember doing proper cooking threads on here, which definitely laid the foundations for La Cuisine.
Plus I've met him in real life and he's a top bloke :)

Not mentioned yet, so TheBlue would get my vote for his brewing and dehydrating threads. Very interesting, and loads of help. But also thanks to you Ahleckz for help and encouragement in the brewing threads.

Jonny69 will always leap out at you in this section and for all the right reasons.... I'll also second seabiscuit above with mentioning Ahleckz, not so much for the brewing threads (I'm seldom in there) but more for his love and passion of quality beer. Without doubt he has converted many people on this forum, myself included to reach out and try something different only to be rewarded with some wonderous delights :)

Oh and it should be Nomnominations ;)

Three that have already been mentioned:
DJ - Great competition and contributions overall including some nice cooking!
QuickLink - Great Cook, and fantastic photos+reviews on the restaurants he visits.
Cainer - This section, especially the 'now eating' thread wouldn't be the same without you :D

and two that haven't:

Ahleckz and Stan_Lite for the contributions and insights into the world of Whisky

I'd nomnominate DirtyJester, Cainer, Frenchtart & Johnny69.

Not in any particular order but IMO they're all very good/entertaining posters who put their own slant on things, but are all quite obviously very passionate about their food & drink. Good posting chaps, keep it up & Merry Christmas to ya!

I shall nomnominate the_blue for his helpful beer brewing hints and tops.
Dirtyjester for his fantastic beers of the world thread sadly due to money we've not been able to take part as much as we had liked.
Johnny69 and Glaucus for their hints tips and sheer passion for food.
