Hi all i am currently in the process of putting together an mini-itx htpc build but have run into a problem (1 of many lol) i only have one usb header on the mother board, yet need to connect an infra red sensor to 1 leaving my front card reader and 2 usb's out in the cold.
The motherboard is an Asus F1A75-I Deluxe the only other reference to usb on the board is a 20 pin usb connector to add more usbs to the rear of a case.
Is there any workaround for this or can i indeed use the 20 pin usb connector to solve my problem?
Thanks

Well from what i can see on the Asus web-site looking at the pics of the motherboard
there are 2 header and 1 is for USB 3, can you not utilise that in anyway?
Which then leaves the other header open for what you need.

Im going to rescan my manual but as far as i can see i only have the 1 header im quite sure of it as i spent a couple of hours scratching my head last night!

Shadz is right, there are two.

1. USB 3.0 connector (20-1 pin USB3_34)

2. USB connector (10-1 pin USB56)

The above copied from the manual.

You can use the 20-pin header if you have USB3 ports to plug into it. If you don't, AFAIK you cannot plug a USB2 header cable into a USB3 header without an adapter, though I'm not sure they even exist.

You could just get a PCI card, or even a cable like this which would probably be cheaper: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CB-072-AK

That will plug directly into the USB3 header (the 20-pin), and give you two more ports.

The ony other usb i've got on the mobo is the 20-1 usb 3.0 blue connection i was hoping i could get an adaptor for this to give me more headers.
The problem isnt lack of usb's but lack of usb headers to connect the front ports of the case.

This exert from the manual shows you what to do.

I'm really sorry if im being thick here but i dont want to add a rear bracket i just want to connect the front usb of my case (black 4pin ) connections to the mobo.
At the moment this is not possible as the solitary usb header on the mobo has the infra red receiver attatched to it.
Are you telling me i can somehow attatch these to the 20 pin connecttor in the diagram above without anything getting damaged?
