Lad buys PS2 on eBay - gets £44,000 instead!

He could've nicked some at least, even in £50's my parents wouldn't have counted 880 notes up, you could just slice it off the top and no one would know.

I hope the lad got his PS2 at least, the money is confiscated and they're £95 out of pocket.

"Police are trying to trace the owner of 65,400 euros (£44,000) mistakenly sent to a teenager who bought a Playstation Two for £95 on eBay.
The cash arrived in a box at the house in Aylsham, Norfolk, instead of the games console."

Now would you of gone to the police? my first thought was no, but then what if they (the senders) come looking for you?

What would you do?

How could you make a mistake like sending money instead of a PS3?

He sent the PS2, there were two games missing (if they were in Jiffy bags it could easily be mistaken for money).

he paid 95 for a ps2 yes, but it could have included 150 games

So could the 360, theoretically.

The kinds of people who send £44k through the post probably aren't very nice people. They do sound like retards though.

I would probably keep schtum and see if the gangsters remembered they'd sent me the money. If not, all's good. If they do then give it back to them.

I certainly wouldn't tell the media ffs! That's just begging for a world of pain for your family; if the criminals get sent down and/or the police say you can keep it they're going to come looking for you.

If that happened to me, I'd want to try and stay as anonymous as possible. Think about the sort of people who would have that amount in cash, and in jiffy bags - would you want them to know you'd not only recieved it, but given it to the police?

LOL, threads are talking again!.

Sounds like the boy’s parents are geniuses

The has to be the best way to clean a small amount of dirty money. Would they have to pay tax on it if the police give it back?
