'LAD'

Doesn't bother me, I quite enjoy reading www.truelad.com from time to time. Although I can imagine it being annoying if uni toffs were constantly saying 'banter' etc

Just read this one..

"On my 18th went out dressed in a quality Darth Vader costume and the LADs dressed as stormtroopers. Got to one club and the doorman (massiveLAD) jokingly said we werent allowed in, so i force choked him he played along fell to the floor and we marched in. The DJ played the Darth vader music and the star wars theme tune. And I pulled. GreatNightLAD"

:D

How on earth can English be your first language and you not understand we have lots of words with more than one meaning?

I get that but how can "lad" mean anything different? a "lad" is a guy, a male, a mate

I say "Already Lad" all the time, what else could it possible mean?

I don't know if they still do it, but back in the 70s/80s we had 'Lads 'n' Dads' football. There was never any complaints or faux angst over the name though

I thought it stopped being cool to be a lad about 15 years ago?

Blame 'Loaded' magazine for lad culture.

eh up lad, trouble at mill.

I didnt think people still used ladette and laddishness, early noughties popular culture.

You crazy kids!

'LAD' culture appears to involve hedonism and misogyny mixed with a dash of brotherly love. Male university students aged 18-21 are the key progenitors of this trend, and after graduation soon realise what an **** they were for three years and how much better they could have done at uni without it.
