Lads Mags Top Shelf ?

the woman who wants lads mags in top shelf, didn't believe me she's ugly?
not my cup of tea tbh :D
With a face like a slapped arse, I wouldn't be in the least bit surprised if she was jealous of the girls on the front covers and just wanted them on the top shelf so she doesn't have to look at them.

First heard about this on the radio the other morning - my reaction was, and still is, can't this man-hating, do-gooding old harridan just **** off and find matters of more pressing concern to her constituents to get herself in a lather about? Such as her 'wonderful' Government's determination to fleece the working population for every last bloody penny they earn  ...

I think they have a point to be fair.

Some of the stuff you get in Loaded, FHM etc is pretty explicit, so if porn/sexy stuff etc is deemed undesirable (that's a whole nother debate...) then I'm not so sure these mags should be so readily available to children. If we've got 15 Certificate films, why not have 15 certificate mags?

While these lads mags claim to be targeted at guys in their 20s, I think we all know that teens who can't buy proper jazzmags yet buy them too primarily for some titilation and so they can ogle topless women.

Then again, times have changed. When I was a teen, hardly anyone had internet at home so mags were more important in that regard. Nowadays most kids will have got an eyeful of whatever they want on the net before they've even hit puberty.

can you honestly say that the picture above doesn't have a sexual message?

"Mummy mummy, look. Those ladies have bumpers"

I think that parents should at least try and have some control over what their kids look at rather than shifting all the emphasis on shop keepers. IMO what a seven year old looks at in the newsagent can and should be controlled by their parents. If it comes down to kids asking questions some of the frontpage article headlines of the womens mags could provide some interesting conversations.

A lot of girls magazines these days contain material that is equally explicit. My ex girlfriend used to buy a magazine called MORE which was targeted at early teens to mid-twenties.
I picked it up one day because I was bored and found it contained images of semi naked men, had articles like 'how to please your man orally' and had a sexual position of the fortnight. This magazine was bought by 12 year old schoolgirls.
You can shrug it off as 'a sign of the times' but all this falls flat when we still get statements about lads' mags being degrading to women.
It seems they can talk about sex as much as they like but when men do it, it is something unnatural and unclean.

^^^^^^ Hear hear , exactly what i was thinking. Girls mags have always bordered on the explicit. Lads mags show nothing you can't read in the newspapers ( I use the term losely i.e. Daily/Sunday Sport ) :D

This 'thing' is just another media whore after her 15 minutes , take no notice and she'll go away ;)

I dont really care what they decide to do, but what really p*sses me off is when my 6 years old sister comes back from school and swears at me.

and what do you do, blindfold them? The magazines are at his eye level at the front of the shop? And we're talking Tesco here, not a newsagent. It's been said about a hundred times it's not about nudity it's about the tone.

And as for the content of women's mags in words v images on the covers of lads mags, it's already been discussed way back.

I'm going to quote from my first post here to try and explain the issue: As far as I'm aware, no-ones answered this point yet?

If blokes can't understand what the problem is, just imagine a gay mag, say for example 'Attitude', with two well-built, sexy blokes on the front cover, with no clothes on, gazing at each others bits, barely hidden by their hands....and imagine your 7 year old daughter asking what they are doing and why they are playing with each others bits when they are both boys.

Now who's uncomfortable?

Yes it says "pick me up and buy one today".. just like the ladies mags say "loose a stone in week" or "how to get the best orgasms on your own".
Same thing.

I guess the reason why these mags are so popular is because blokes with wifes and partners can get away with this - just. Where as anything stronger they are in the doghouse.. These are the bloke who keep a stash under the floorboards :)

not the same thing really - ones visual, one's wording. 7 yr old kids won't have a clue what orgasm is, they probably won't even be able to say or spell it. But they can see those ladies touching each others boobies :p

I agree, there's far worse on the front of the Daily Sport though. Good Lord, they show things I didn't even know ladies had!

What's wrong with just telling the truth?
