So I heard on the news today they wish to have lads mages like Nuts & Zoo moved to the top shelf, is it just me or is this country really losing it's mind? (maybe it's already lost it).

Story

On BBC Breakfast they had a man and women discussing this and when the chap raised the issue of The Sun being on sale for nearly 40 years she first of all said it was not bad, then when the 'news' presenter asked her later if The Sun should be on the top shelf she said "well, why not". This is simply ridiculous.

Then a few moments later they were discussing banning cigarette vending machines and forcing shops to move cigarettes under the counter to stop youngsters being drawn in by the 'razzmatazz' of the cigarette stand.

I was under the assumption that they had already hit the top shelf.

They certainly have in my local newsagent and also in WHSmith.

God, all this just for a couple of sets of Gamunjas. :rolleyes:
 
Womens mags are just as bad.

Zoo, Nuts and the like should be put in the bin.

At least mage like FHM have decent articles to read as well as norks
 
To be fair anything that can be done to deter kids from from even being remotely interested in cigarettes should be done. If I had my way then tobacconists would only be allowed to sell cigarettes, at least that way you might get some proper age control going on.

Now as far as Lads Mags go so long as they aren't pornographic then I don't see any sensible reason why they should be sent to the top shelf. The human body can be seen pretty much anywhere these days and that's not a bad thing, it's natural and it's not like nips and bush are illegal. The same applies to the opposite (as in mags with men on the front). That said I would argue that some decency would be nice. The front cover of the sport, for example, always seems to suggest some sort of cheap porno and is not something I'd put wit the other papers.

This I agree with. It's been awhile since I read FHM but the cover always seems to suggest a bit more content than "NORKS INSIDE!!!!1111oneoneeo".
 
At least most of the women in these Mags are a decent weight, pick up a womens fashion mag and they're all so thin their periods have probably stopped!

Makes me laugh, you can watch somebody being murdered on the TV but you can't see naked bums, "won't somebody just think about the children!"

I saw the daft bint on the BBC, comparing it to child pornography.

I was almost yelling at the telly, Chid porn is illegal page 3 is not so you can hardly compare the 2, you stupid woman.

Why is it always ugly women who are again these types of mags.
 
I am glad someone else saw her, I too wanted to scream at the telly, her arguement was stupid and poorly thought out.
 
Nothing more natural than a human body.. everyone likes something attractive, everyone recoils at the unattractive..

However I think that kids should have their time to imagine, dream and think - this may not be 'natural' but there's a difference between natural and commercial exploitation!

Loaded and Zoo are basically no more than modernised Playboy. Playboy used to have interviews, discussions and other articles along with a good dollop of nudity. They're also in this vein but about lads stories.. no different just their time of circulation.

And when I was growing up they didn't have the plastic bags around the xxx mags so you could just see the name.

Wonder if they would put The Daily Sport on the top shelf.
 
What a surprise, more pointless suggestions with no prospect of any improvement while ignoring all the real causes of problems in society.
 
Nuts and Zoo imo is a decent mag, as one of the other guys said the birds in it are top of the pile. Great bodies and stunning looks and a healthy weight, then you look at all these other women magazines where it's got stick insects. Even thought zoo and nuts are a lads magazine a lot of young girls will aim for looking like a certain celeb, they should start reading nuts and zoo haha.
