you sure the fans are spinning on the GPU? dust free? could be thermal throttling?

I removed my whole GPU and checked it this morning its dust free! and I dont think so because i thought that and turned it off then tried and still....the same problem

Could always manually install the ATI drivers. Just go in to Device Manager and click update driver and then point it to the folder where the AMD Catalyst extracted too (used to be C:\ATI, but i think its changed to C:\AMD now).

Although doesnt explain why it hangs. Where abouts does it hang, do you get to the point where it asks Standard or Custom install?

Have you run chkdsk or the like on your HDD? As that sounds like it could be the culprit to both the "lagging" (very imprecise word IMO) and the problem installing now

i did another reinstall of windows and it installed fine

Ok, I installed all the drivers now im getting even worse FPS! 60FPS on Minecraft! This is a joke now!

Your FPS might me 60 because you have vsync enabled.

Is your internet sky llu or sky connect? if it's not llu then you will get shaped heavily at peak time as their non llu service is rubbish. And as you say they slow you down after torrents then I would say you are on the connect service as their llu service is unlimited.

I doubt you will be able to do much about it apart from moving ISP.

Yeah i have sky unlimited :/ im planning on moving to BT soon anyway but this is single player FPS so my internet connection has nothing to do with that

Iv turned Vsync to always off and now minecraft is bouncing around 70 - 100FPS which is still quite low for my set up! this is getting quite frustrating now :/ do you think it could be the graphics card?

How does the game actually play?
If its alright ignore FPS, its irrelevant really

It lags everytime i make a turn and yeah i did earlier, it didnt change anything. its still the same and im all out of ideas now so im just thinking the GPU may be faulty i bought it about 4 months ago

Im sat here playing need for speed shift 2 completely maxed out inc AA and im get a solid 60FPS! WTF?!
