Hi i just got a radeon rx 580 8gb card and when i play shadow of tomb raider the picture is a bit laggy when a lot is going on in the game - i have read the recommended specs for game and my system seems to be fine but my monitor HPS2331a 60hz is years old - could this affect my game and would this improve if i get a 144hz monitor ?

Intel Core i7 6700K @ 4.00GHz Skylake
16.0GB Dual-Channel Unknown @ 1066MHz (15-15-15-36)
HP S2331 (1920x1080@60Hz)
8192MB ATI Radeon RX 580 Series

Are you using DirectX 12? If not, you definitely want to be.

Also might want to check your CPU and GPU usage - that game can get CPU bottlenecked in the busier areas, though I'd have thought the i7 6700K would be fine.

I'm guessing you're experiencing frame rate drops in more system-demanding areas, which wouldn't have anything to do with your monitor if it's smooth in other parts of the game.

overclock 700k to 4.5/6ghz - get the extra leg room.

if your dropping frame rates by a large amount or then shoot up you'll get tearing !

DX 12 vs 11

DX 12 vs 11 Vs cores and threads - no reason for CPU upgrade :)

grabbing 144hz monitor for this game and your current GPU may not get the best out of it. older game would hitting over 60fps min - more the freesync that would be handy
