I maybe being niave here, but why do the clutches need replacing pretty much every 5-10k? price 5k at a dealers!!!

I know if you can afford the car you can afford the servicing. I notice on Pistonheads that some have mentioned "upgraded clutch and flywheel" so maybe they are a weak part of the car?

Lots of power, being sent to all four corners, generally getting driven hard. It's going to wear the clutch a bit.

Plus it's a VAG product.

I put it down to crap driving, too much clutch slipping on quick get aways and to many of them spending most of their time driving around town posing rather than been driven cross country on a good long journey. I have never done a clutch in a car in my life (touching wood) and I don't plan to either. I don't ride them, I don't slip them, I don't do super fast getaways and I don't spend all day driving around town or holding my car on the clutch. If I did some or all of those things I outline on a Supercar clutch with that many horses I too would expect it to last 10K.

I'm not sure about Gallardo's but I know Murcielagos were notorious for clutches breaking down after a few thousand miles. So if they shared the same components then it's possible.

A Murcielago is a bat by the looks of things, I can't see them having a clutch :p
